/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

I prefer the negative harmony version.

Fuck that it's one of the things I like about this overzealous season. I've loved Mariah since I was in like third grade.

I respect you, but I don't respect your opinion.

Fair enough. I will take this moment to mention that Sharon Jones and the Dap kings released a Xmas record, and anyone tired of Mariah who still wants some more modern Xmas music would do well to check it out. She was amazing.

There is a simple explanation...

I was wondering when that would show up. This variation gets a pass.

For me, it's Felice Navidad. I was stationed in Panama for a bit and for the entire months of November and December it's all they played on the radio. Like, constantly, on loop. I didn't dislike the song until after the first dozen times I heard it.

Same philosophy as All I Want for Christmas, I think; I honestly haven't heard the Mariah Carey song nearly enough times to supplant my loathing for Felice Navidad.

So many good songs get ruined by over exposure and it's turned up to 11 for Christmas

In my house growing up, from the second we finished thanksgiving dinner until new years eve my mom played nothing but Xmas music in the house. Over and over and over again. All day. I hated Xmas music for years after I moved out. It's mostly just tolerable these days, but ever since I changed jobs and temporarily moved back in with them in-between selling my previous house and bought a new one I now feel the same about the Beatles as I did Xmas music growing up. Because that's ALL she listens to. Ever.

My mom had one of those multi-CD changers in her car containing the 4 Horsemen of the Acoustic Apocalypse: Mariah Carey, Kenny G, Michael Bolton, and Celine Dion. Strangely, one day they disappeared and "no one knew where they'd gone."
