It would only work if there are staff to clean and monitor bathrooms. Otherwise it's going to end up with people fighting over gross clogged toilets and bathroom time. Not to mention disease risk.

Probably people passed out in there too or doing hookups while you just want to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

Actually... I wonder if this would even help much with affordable housing vs just a tiny bathroom with a basic toilet and sink. They seem to want to cheap out in building it without considering ongoing costs.

This would be useful for converting office buildings to residential buildings. Most office buildings only have a few bathrooms per floor. The only issue is repair and maintenance. Do the residents have to pay condo fees that go to upkeep? Not sure if having full time staff maintaining these would actually be cheaper than having restrooms in the apartments. If you are expecting the residence themselves to keep them maintained, this is a horrible idea.

The key lies in who runs it and is accountable for its upkeep. Bathrooms would need daily cleaning. Kitchens would need some kind of frequency as well. I don’t see the city nor private companies being capable (for the city) or willing (for private companies) to do this right.

Terrible idea for all the reasons that everyone has already stated. People in affordable housing deserve a real home too, not a dorm.
