I mentioned this in another thread about this: How Nintendo has characters in game refer to Link and how Link is portrayed in media outside the games, it seems very much like the personality of that cartoon version is the canon personality of Link.

Fingers crossed for Owen Wilson to be Link
Uhhh... I'm not so certain that this is something that will go over well as a live action movie. ESPECIALLY if they plan on having Link appear in it. Link is a silent protagonist primarily because it allows the player to easily project themselves into the position of the character. Meaning that every individual fan has their own specific idea of how link "should be." Any deviation from that and... Well we know how gamers can be. If you don't put Link in it and focus on side characters in a plot that happens in the Legend of Zelda setting, you have a chance for something more successful as a spin-off. You'll still have people on the side shouting "Why didn't they put link in it?" But if the movie is written and produced well, then isn't much of an issue.
But the Mario movie was a success so I'm not overly worried about it and I'm hopeful.
Does he actually say it that much in that series? My goodness.
They should just piss everyone off universally and give him like a Gilbert Gottfried voice.
Only way I can see it working is in the princess bride style. That way we understand it’s the narrator telling the story and so the tone/voice not matching makes sense

Well it is the Legend of Zelda, so I could see that working really well
If the movie opens with a fairy declaring, "Hey! Listen!" I will laugh until I throw up.
Link doesn't really have a character. He's just a sword arm.

I guess I could see it. Like maybe it's literally a "legend" of Zelda, where the hero is a figure of myth and the story actually centers around other characters many years later. Sorta like Wind Waker, I'm realizing as I'm writing this. Actually, using the Wind Waker trope of making the main character a reincarnation of Link might give them the wiggle room to create a Link with some unique personality.
Arad productions has produced fine films such as venom and the uncharted movie. Along with the spider verse movies. What a range.
Also, Sony pictures is distributing the film, funnily enough, lol.

I can't think of a single way this will not suck. I was pleasantly surprised by the Mario movie but that was animated
I'm calling it now: as soon as some casting is announced or stills shown there's going to be a massive shriek from chuds over the 1-2 PoC actors portraying Hylians and they'll pretend they're actually just mad because lore says Hylians are white or some bullshit
Even though there are multiple examples of dark-skinned Hylians across multiple games
They are only teasing. We won’t hear anything for a couple years and then it will re-emerge as an animated series for little kids.
