Also known as an African Spur Thigh. I used to have one. Never burrowed into the drywall but he did once bite my toe hard enough to draw blood.

I have so many questions. Largely, what's behind the wall that allowed this dude to get to this position. I'm assuming it's a basement wall, and probably an exterior wall... In which case, this dude burrowed through something more serious prior to the drywall.

Nah. Interior walls in the US are made of nothing but studs and drywall panels with a little texture on top. There's no insulation or anything. This dude was probably in the room and decided to go to the living room with the least amount of steps possible.

Sulcata tortoises are native only in the southern Sahel region of the Sahara desert. Either OP has an endangered species as a pet, works in a Zoo, or this was located in Africa.
