Just now, loading the page https://lemmy.world, I saw a different user's main page. The page loaded in light mode (I use dark) with the username of /u/froodloop in the top right. Then a moment later, it refreshed into my expected main page with my username in top right. This went past too quickly to get a screenshot, but it was reminiscent of some of the bugs that were happening in the old websocket code.

This happens to me all the time. It's a known issue which has been reported multiple times; #1375 appears to be the primary issue for this in the UI repo.

+1 . I had the same experience this month. That’s concerning.

Out of curiosity, do you recall the other username, and was it close to yours in the alphabet?

I noticed that froodloop is alphabetically close to fubo, and wondered if that had anything to do with this bug.

Unfortunately, I can’t recall the username. It was just enough time for me to understand that something was wrong with the page, and in a moment, it switched to my account.

Can we tag users? lemmy.world/u/froodloop

To send a mention use type @user@instance and select from the dropdown box, alternatively type the full link manually [@user@instance](https://instance/u/user)

You can generate an instance agnostic link with /u/user@instance automatically, which will allow other users to see their profile from within their own instance, however this won't give a mention notification to the user.

I'm not sure if the link text has to be correct for the mention. When you select from the dropdown box on lemmy it comes out with @user@instance in the link text.

Also I edited my comment above to include instance agnostic links. Unfortunately they don't deliver mention notifications.

I think something like [email protected] would be more the ticket, but I know that Memmy doesn’t have an option in the inbox for either mentions or messages, just replies, so you might not see it depending on what you use to access Lemmy.
