The journal app seems pretty useless in its current state honestly.

The on device learning for journaling suggestions is cool, but there are so many essential features missing.

There’s no search, no export, no edit history, no calendar view, no iPad/Mac apps…

Except their next PI lasts a year, so the delivery rate is slow as shit.

I like the new Journal app, though haven’t found a way to FaceID/ Pin lock it.

Without being able to lock it, I won’t use the app. Too risky.

Forgot to comment but thank you. I always mess these two up (to/too). English isn’t my native language.

“Too” has an excess of ‘o’s, and is use to mean an excess of something.

The first to was fine, but the last one should be “too risky”, as in “the risk is excessive”/“the risk is beyond what I can accept”

Curious as to how the journal compares to Day One. I paid for an annual subscription recently. I like that Day One can record the location and weather along with my entries…and options for other things like health data, audio…not to mention different journals for different projects. I have one for full journaling and one that is more of a mood journal for feelings and rambling…

I have used Day One for the last few months and moved over to Apple Journal now. D1 is much more full featured in teens of photo suggestions, and weather etc but the core elements are there for Apples version. It needs layout tweaks and customisation options (e.g I listen to a couple of playlists to fall asleep to and Journal is always recommending them as ‘what I’ve been listening to’ which isn’t wrong but it would be good if I could tell it to ignore it!)

In a couple of updates the evolved app should do the trick but it’s a wee bit interior to D1 at the moment. Hoping to be able to import from Day One soon.

Yep other things I prefer about Day 1 is I can use my iPad with a Bluetooth keyboard or the web version on my PC. Realistically I’m probably going to end up doing it MOSTLY on my phone…but my preference is to journal using a full size keyboard and fully express myself at full typing speed 😊

Without a good export feature, this is completely useless. I don’t want my journal to be another reason to be locked in to Apple’s ecosystem.
