Lemmy 0.19 has been released!

You can see the full changelog here

In order to apply this update, we'll be scheduling a 2 hour window starting 11:00AM UTC Saturday 16th December (I.e. tomorrow).

This will include at least one server restart, and as part of the upgrade process the database will probably be offline, so expect definite connection issues during this window. Lots of backing up will be done too.

I'll make another post when the window begins, and a further post when it is completed and we are happy everything is working.

Edit to add - we'll probably also upgrade Pictrs (the software that shows you the pictures on lemmy) at the same time to version 0.4.7 as advised as part of the migration pathway for Pictrs V5 (coming soon!).

There may be a period of time during this window where you will be able to access the site, but images won't load - don't worry, this is expected!

Just a though but maybe you should take the server offline completely while its being worked on so that you don't see unpredictable behavior due to lemmy clients constantly trying to connect.

Excellent - I'm really looking forward to 0.19 - finally we're getting per user instance bans which I know a lot of people have asked for. It's also adding scaled sort (promoting smaller communities) and controversial sort, which I've been really missing on the AskLemmy discussions lol. Hope the upgrade is easy!
