Coincidentally, I've been playing around with the thought of doing something similar if I ever have time. I basically wanted to turn the "they're not underdeveloped, they're over-expoilted" 
quote into a series of infographics, but heavily lean into how things like revolutions, the western world, and sanctions can heavily influence the outcome for the people's living conditions.
There's a book by Walter Scheidel called The Great Leveler in which he does a before and after of gini coefficients regard things like plagues, revolutions, and I was gonna go through his sources to see if there was a database that could be referenced. Something to maybe check out.
