I once got lectured by my dad how I'm the one being selfish and entitled, and how I try to restrict his freedom and comfort during family time, when I tell him to watch videos on mute, or get himself ear plugs, this was in a hotel restaurant might I add.
Jesus fucking christ, the level of anger I felt took me all the way back to being a teenager, I was very close to throwing a tantrum and going to my room without eating.

When I hear someone browsing TikTok videos, it just sounds like 5 second commercials to me. It's quite annoying to listen to.
also applies to instagram reels as well. please put headphones or earbuds especially in overcrowded public transit at 7 am.
I just need instagram to have a mute button so i don't accidentally trigger the audio when it fails to register a double tap.

Back in the days before smartphones, it was being in the same room as someone choosing a ringtone
I have my doubts because I've listened to 'little drummer boy' played by an amateur bagpipe band in what's basically a parking garage.
If I were motivated to do so, I could set up a room microphone while having someone browse TikTok, then compress the shit out of the recording to bring out the details, and make harsh noise out of that recording.
So I think noise musicians can approach the auditory torture of existing in a room with a TikTok viewer, but as a gesture of goodwill have held back their full power...
nah it's the performance that gives it the extra oomph.
With noise music I can just, turn it off, and the track has a set length and will end eventually.
Person scrolling tik tok next to you? Feels awkward to approach them and tell them to stop. Some videos loop a short tune, some videos just keep looping as they read the text on the screen, obnoxious constant high energy voices beam from the speakers, and there is no end in sight, no rest, you never know if their next video has a wall of text forcing you to listen to the same sentence/melody 10 times in a row, or if they'll skip something mid sentece. It's a constant auditory nightmare
Still better then sensory overload.
