Anyone that was around while Reddit was growing will remember that there were few subreddits to begin with. I think fediverse needs that to happen before expanding.

I don’t know how to fix it. Maybe sub-feddits need to be pruned if they aren’t thriving. Maybe tags in titles would be more helpful until they have enough content to warrant their on category.

A lot of the responses are offering an all or none response. The issue isn’t OP wants to block all memes posts, they just don’t want to see them as often.

This is an algorithm/fedi issue I suspect. It would require curation.

Since fedi isn’t really about that, the only option is to downvote.

Downvote shitty memes.

$. Almost every reason for shutting off boils down to lack of financial support to keep it running.

Yeah Singapore has good public transit options but it doesn’t handle everything.

Many people own cars though and the certificate is transferable and is part of the car loan, so it mostly becomes a monthly cost.

If you’re trying to show off in Singapore you have multiple cars in your own garage, including an old super car and an suv you use to drive to your boat club where you can take your boat out for the day.

As long as I can still make my character look like a 65 year old gender fluid meth addict I’ll play it.

If I wanted to do this today I would use iTunes and an old iPhone as the mp3 player. I would use an old laptop to rip, or iTunes to purchase.

The only thing worse than a single database server is servers poorly maintained database servers. The idea was right, but maybe the implementation was wrong.

I don’t have a cable/standard tv service. It looks like YouTube has a standalone package for $400 (!) I’m mostly interested in regular season games and follow whatever my fantasy football player teams are playing, so they aren’t usually broadcast in my area over the air.

Outside of villainous piracy what would be the best option?

If you recall reddits growth many of their communities evolved as offshoots of a single generic community. This made it easier for people to see discussions they normally would not get involved in, and once the posts in a similar category reached critical mass it moved to a sub Reddit.

I think people are recreating their niche communities here but they are floundering since the user base is still pretty small. Maybe it’s best to post to the “big” communities until the time is right to move to smaller, targeted communities?
