I see stuff like this everyday. As much as everyone around me would like me to unmask and eat indoors, I can't unsee all this.

PointAndClick apparently swapped my mum and dad on the regular, so you're probably right.

They're living in the jungle, but all all have perfectly styled early 90s hair

This is false kids. Don't listen to this. Too much sex ruins your digestion and causes your liver to turn yellow.

Sex should only be used for the reproduction of the labour force.

Here's how my wife and I beared through the misery of copulation:

One of the nice things of Hexbear vs FB or IG is that we can scroll and choose not to see pictures of dead animals.

Reading about underground insurgencies in Vietnam or Gaza, I will never devalue shorter people.

[-] [email protected] 7 points 19 hours ago

I want the greater choice of clothes that being a shorter person entails. Nothing fecking fits me. Also beds, airline seats, and cars (I will never buy a truck). I'm jealous of my smaller friends who can nap on any seat.

I've never felt scared, intimidated, and threatened as an adult, so there's that.

Ya I bought an NES with my first communion money. You missed out.

However the adult therapy bills ran me well into the many thousands of dollars.

Today, CDC recommended the updated 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccines and the updated 2024-2025 flu vaccines to protect against severe COVID-19 and flu this fall and winter.

It is safe to receive COVID-19 and flu vaccines at the same visit. Data continue to show the importance of vaccination to protect against severe outcomes of COVID-19 and flu, including hospitalization and death. In 2023, more than 916,300 people were hospitalized due to COVID-19 and more than 75,500 people died from COVID-19. During the 2023-2024 flu season, more than 44,900 people are estimated to have died from flu complications.

Updated 2024-2025 COVID-19 Vaccine Recommendation

CDC recommends everyone ages 6 months and older receive an updated 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine to protect against the potentially serious outcomes of COVID-19 this fall and winter whether or not they have ever previously been vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine. Updated COVID-19 vaccines will be available from Moderna, Novavax, and Pfizer later this year. This recommendation will take effect as soon as the new vaccines are available.

The virus that causes COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2, is always changing and protection from COVID-19 vaccines declines over time. Receiving an updated 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine can restore and enhance protection against the virus variants currently responsible for most infections and hospitalizations in the United States. COVID-19 vaccination also reduces the chance of suffering the effects of Long COVID, which can develop during or following acute infection and last for an extended duration.

Last season, people who received a 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine saw greater protection against illness and hospitalization than those who did not receive a 2023-2024 vaccine. To date, hundreds of millions of people have safely received a COVID-19 vaccine under the most intense vaccine safety monitoring in United States history.

Updated 2024-2025 Flu Vaccine Recommendation

CDC recommends everyone 6 months of age and older, with rare exceptions, receive an updated 2024-2025 flu vaccine to reduce the risk of influenza and its potentially serious complications this fall and winter. CDC encourages providers to begin their influenza vaccination planning efforts now and to vaccinate patients as indicated once 2024-2025 influenza vaccines become available.

Most people need only one dose of the flu vaccine each season. While CDC recommends flu vaccination as long as influenza viruses are circulating, September and October remain the best times for most people to get vaccinated. Flu vaccination in July and August is not recommended for most people, but there are several considerations regarding vaccination during those months for specific groups:

The following statement is attributable to CDC Director Dr. Mandy Cohen:

โ€œOur top recommendation for protecting yourself and your loved ones from respiratory illness is to get vaccinated,โ€ said Mandy Cohen, M.D., M.P.H. โ€œMake a plan now for you and your family to get both updated flu and COVID vaccines this fall, ahead of the respiratory virus season.โ€

My job tends to push me well beyond 8 hour days & 5 day weeks. I feel like my job requires a ton of emotional labour, and I find that super draining. Normally when I'm working, I'm falling behind in sleep and self-care. If I have free time, often times I need to just chill out and rest. I tend to put something pointless on YouTube or Netflix just to relax.

When I have some time off, my body stops screaming to slow down. I catch up with sleep and exercise. I can read as much as I want to. I touch base with old friends who I haven't talked to in a while. I can do much more IRL activism. Basically, I become the person I wish that I was normally.

God I wish I had some passive income coming in so this could be my life. Everyday would be a vacation. I'd probably go to the office and waste my employees time with meetings so I'd feel like I was doing something. I'd go to a Global South country, pretend I'm volunteering, and meet other trust fund kids who think they're making a difference. If I had enough capital, I'd found some NGO that makes freedom maps, and the DPRK would get a very sinister colour. I could go to cocktail parties and brag about how my NGO is making a difference. That it's all funded by the exploited labour of my workers is easily forgotten after 3 martinis.

Looking back at the past, I can't see any path that I would become a capitalist, as there was no chance of me getting capital, except becoming an especially evil sort of grifter. Maybe I'd be a very different sort of person if my parents left me a 5 million nest egg.

But the pro-Palestine activists are anti-semites. I'm waiting for the ADL to condemn this.

A Conservative student association has been condemned after attenders at one of its events were filmed singing a Nazi marching song.

Footage showed a group of people at a black-tie dinner hosted by the University of Warwick Conservative Association dancing to Erika by German composer Herms Niel.

The song was frequently played at military events in Nazi Germany and has also been used by modern white supremacist movements. Its lyrics are not explicitly political, but Niel was a member of the Nazi party and personally conducted bands at Nazi rallies.

The Sunday Times, which published the clip, reported that it was shot at the associationโ€™s annual chairmanโ€™s dinner at a hotel in Leamington Spa. Just before the clip ends, someone out of shot can be heard saying: โ€œDonโ€™t film.โ€

The Union of Jewish Students described the clip as โ€œutterly abhorrentโ€ and said it showed โ€œblatant and unchallenged support for nazismโ€, adding: โ€œGlorification of the Nazis has no place in our society, especially on campus. It is in no way acceptable and must be widely condemned.

โ€œWe expect swift and decisive action from the University of Warwick and the Conservative party. Actions must have consequences.โ€

The association told the MailOnline that it โ€œwholeheartedly condemns the behaviour exhibited during this video and apologises for any offence that has been causedโ€.

It said Erika was played for a โ€œbrief periodโ€ after a request from one member to the DJ and was โ€œnot included in the preplanned music selection handed to the DJโ€. The clip was taken at a dinner of the University of Warwick Conservatives Association.

sorry I keep posting today

It's just super frustrating seeing people who are supposedly my brothers and sisters, who I've been there to the hilt, who know that my partner is struggling, who know that I'm terrified. We've gone through the science and racial and class inequalities together and they've voiced how they should mask a hundred times. And then they come to meet me IRL totally fucking unmasked, without even a fucking apology.

Well, if you're "back to normal", I'll sit and watch you eat outside, but I'm not taking my mask off in front of you. I'll wait till you finish your meal, and I'll head home early. If I've complained about no masking two times already, you heard it enough, I'm not going to complain again.

Am I overreacting?

Edit: for those of griping that you're not allowed to do COVID minimisation in this comm. These would be valid answer:

  • Maybe your friend forgot
  • Maybe your friend was tired
  • Maybe your friend was hung over
  • Your friend made a mistake but you should forgive him
  • I'm not yet fully covid conscious, but I'm trying
  • We can't all be perfect. Hopefully they do better next time.

Not acceptable:

  • Oh here's a tidbit about masks that's been disproven in the science literature 10x already
  • Oh the chuds and libs aren't masking, and I feel peer pressured
