Yeah these are all interesting and I'll follow their development for sure, as I know there were a lot of talented people that worked on DE. But I would be hard pressed to call anything a true "successor studio" without any of Kurvitz, Rostov, Hindpere and Tuulik - and preferably all four of course.

The original article didn't have that plotted, but I don't see why it wouldn't follow this line fairly closely.

I'd be more interested to see a graph of the proportion of outside-of-the-box shots scored over the years. Has it gone up, because people are only taking good long distance shots now and fewer random potshots? Or had it gone down because good players mostly know to avoid them and bad players are bad at scoring them?

Huge patch. So much stuff I'll need to try out to get a feel for. Was praying for a McGinnis nerf but she was maybe buffed? Or was she? Hard to parse.

Guardian changes look good, more lane safety early on was probably needed as losing a guardian in the first couple minutes was way too easy. I'll miss sliding on the stairs to conserve ammo shooting guardians though.

The midboss change looks good and a step in the right direction. Hopefully with these stats giving away the first midboss isn't a complete death sentence.

Urn changes are amazing and will create so many more gameplay opportunities between seeing it on the map and being able to knock it out of enemies' hands.

I'm very interested to see if green item meta changes. The tweak to movespeed and Enduring Speed tells me IceFrog's intention is for that item to be optional - not mandatory on every single hero as it was before.

Finally seeing Ammo Scav addressed, which was completely broken for so long. Also RIP Torment Pulse, it was nice to spam you on almost every character but you were too good to be true. o7 my friend.

Pictured in this graph: what xG does to a motherfucker.

I thought this graph was super interesting as it is a near-perfect illustration of when data analytics and advanced statistics started to enter into football (2014-2016) and some of the effects it's had on the game.

EDIT: Forgot to paste a link to the complete article.

It's definitely sapping a lot of enjoyment out of the game for me. Not trying to claim that I'm a great player, but at least when I lose my lane I know to stay back, play safe and attempt to recovery farm in the midgame. I legit had someone go 0-21 on Warden on my team today in like 30 minutes. Just zipped in and kamikaze died over and over. What are you gonna do?

I don't mind losing even games but so many of these matches are just decided at the matchmaking stage. Maybe it's my fault for not being able to carry games myself? I guess I'm supposed to one-trick something like McGinnis and suicide push objectives until I'm high enough MMR to not get these games.

It will come down to what the winning margins are. If it's 10 points or less then I definitely think it's undeniable the win was in reach with team orders earlier.

I've literally got a save file prepped where I rushed getting to B&W before doing literally anything else so I can play the whole games's Gwent with the Skellige deck when I decide to play it again. You don't get enough time with it and it's such a fun deck!

I skip reading the article this one time after being so disappointed by Rockstar for the PS4 release of RDR, and I an punished. Serves me right tbh.

Archive link doesn't work for me, but I could extract the original link and read it.

Don't really take much joy from anything Paradox is saying about the direction and developer switch. It plays more like Dishonored? That's not what made the first game so good brother, why'd you throw out Brian Mitsoda when you had him working on the project and the writing is half of what made people love the original? Why did The Chinese Room toss out Rik Schaffer when the soundtrack of the original was so iconic?

It might turn out to be a decent game but I have such a hard time believing it will be a good Bloodlines game.

Presumably still 30 FPS max and no other improvements apart from deigning to let us play it at all on PC?

Can't believe I had to scroll down this far to find Neon White but I'm glad someone mentioned it! It is pretty much the flow state shooter, should be perfect for OP.

Oooh tough question. Maybe Bioshock Infinite? I only ever played the first one but picked up the full bundle on sale on GOG last year. I have to get through 2 first which has put me off a bit since it's a big time commitment.

The combat is way too easy on normal difficulty - this is fine if you only want to experience the story but very understimulating otherwise. I honestly suggest trying to play the game on Death March (but turn it up after the first time you fight a pack of Ghouls, they'll fuck you up). On Death March you'll be incentivized to interact with the game systems: Alchemy, Signs, specific monster weaknesses in the bestiary. All this really makes you feel more like a witcher, which in my opinion enriches the gameplay.

Experiment with builds - respec potions are fairly plentiful so don't be scared to put points into stuff. Don't underestimate Alchemy, but make sure you visit all the herbalists you can find to purchase recipes, the difference between basic alchemy and the upgraded recipes is massive.

Play Gwent, and check every single store you come across for cards and instantly buy them all. W3 Gwent is fantastic and half the fun of the game.

With the story calling back to both the two previous games and the books it's not a bad idea to try to find some story recaps on YouTube of what has happened earlier in the story.

EDIT: Completely put 100%-ing the game out of your mind. There are a million ?'s on the map and they are almost all completely meaningless filler content. Trying to collect all the sunken treasure in Skellige will completely burn you out and make you hate the game.

Post the match IDs of any games where you thought matchmaking was poor into the linked thread in order to help tune the algorithm.

DISCLAIMER: The past 24h (Oct 3-4th) have had extra poor matchmaking due to a bug, so omit any IDs from that time frame.

It's very sad to see one of the most high-effort Dota content creators stop. I completely sympathise with their reasons, but I will sorely miss their videos as there were so many heroes I wish they'd gotten to do videos about.

We're finally off the ground! 8 teams left, who are your favourites? What do you think about the arena and production? Will we see any fun surprise?

Still have an open void in your life since the Olympics ended? Why not fill it with some esports? Valve's huge The International tournament for Dota 2 started this week, so I thought I'd make a promo post for its community here on Lemmy.

This appeared in my YouTube suggestions, thought I'd share it here.

What teams are you watching? What do you think of the games? Any potential upsets to look out for, any player you're excited to see perform?

Out of every 10 games I play, maybe one of them is a close, even game where everyone is on roughly the same skill level - and that's probably me being generous.

Almost every game has people on either team not just losing their lane but going something like 0-17. I know it's early alpha and has had a huge influx of players recently so maybe it's to be expected to some extent, but even back in my Dota days matchmaking was never this bad. This is like, public WC3 Dota 1 lobbies level.

How are you guys finding it? Anyone break through the MMR barrier into a point where you're getting consistently good games? How long did it take, and what MMR? (you can check here

Someone had to be first to break the silence so why not with this? Nothing better than a guitar with a story, and few things more beautiful than a Jazzmaster full stop. Picture taken from a story here.

Stolen from a thread on the other place. I thought it was very interesting. How do you feel about cyberpunk compared to paranormal 30s New York as a theme?
