Has anyone played this with a controller? It seems like the aiming would be awkward.

I see the question as, you say you are lobbying the government to simplify the tax code but this is actually what simplifying the tax code would look like. The subtext is, y'all aren't doing what you claim.

Overall I think the guy came off pretty poorly throughout the interview.

Google photos question (self.degoogle)

Hi. New parent here. I'm making an honest attempt at preventing Google from building a profile about my baby.

One of the things I've changed is I no longer backup my photos to Google photos. Instead, I use an encrypted cloud storage solution. That being said, I use an android phone. A pixel phone for that matter. I'm worried that Google can still "see" the pictures I take even if I'm not backing them up to Google photos.

What is the consensus on this? Is not backing them up to Google photos making any difference or can Google scan everything on my phone anyway?

Would someone elucidate as to what this means for a normie PC gamer and begrudging windows user?

Ente has been pretty great so far. I have recently become a parent and don't want to feed profile information on my child to Google, Meta, etc. So we don't post to social media. We have been sharing pictures with the family through ente like we used to do with Google photos and iPhotos. It works pretty well. There are two things I wish they would fix/add.

  1. Notifications sent to album members are inconsistent. Family members do not know when new photos are added.

  2. No photo commenting or liking. Gives no indication if photos are being viewed or not. Would love to hear love from fam.

Otherwise, a great foundation.

Organic maps is great and I wish I could use it more. I commute in a city and traffic data is very important to me when it comes to route planning. It can be the difference between an hour commute and a 15min commute. Due to this, I'm pulled back to using google maps as my default.

Is it not possible to anonymize traffic data so that it can be made available in google maps? I'd gladly contribute a bit of data in order to improve this app. I'd even pay a bit of money for a pro version.

Great app all the same.

I used to be so excited about tech announcements. Like...I should be pumped for ai stuff. Now I immediately start thinking about how they are going to use the thing to turn a profit by screwing us over. Can they harvest data with it? Can they charge a subscription for that? I'm getting so jaded.

This was such a fun game. The premise is so simple but works so well. Staying ahead of the baddies is like an exciting puzzle. It was even better playing single screen multiplayer with a buddy.

Does anyone know of anything that scratches a similar itch?

Side Note: in searching around I found this modernized version of Lode Runner Online: The Mad Monks' Revenge. Should be a blast on the steam deck.

Hopefully I'm in the right place.

This is what I remember. The book is set in outer space some time after an intergalactic war with an alien species. Large ships were built during the war. One such ship was placed on the very edge of the known universe, which was where the aliens came from, as an outpost/watchtower of sorts. They keep watch over the edge for any sign of the aliens returning. Anyways, the characters in the book realize that the universe is contracting back in on itself and destroying everything in its path. Over the course of the book they must figure out what is going on while staying ahead of the contraction.

Please help.

Am I the only one that thinks putting the stadium out in Beaverton seems like a terrible idea from a travel/density perspective? Locating it in the Lloyd District seems like such a no-brainer...

We have a standing shower with a strange leak. It was built with a small tiled wall/step that the frame-less glass shower wall panel sits on. I noticed water pooling outside the door after a shower. At first I thought it was the door seal but upon closer inspection it is coming out of the grout. See pics (right where the arrow is pointing). The shower was already in the house when we bought it so I don't know anything about how it was constructed.

How should I proceed trying to fix this leak? Do I need to re-do the grout? Should I just use grout sealer? Any help appreciated.

Update #1: Thanks for the help everyone. Do ya'll have any thoughts on where the water could be entering from? The silicone caulking was recently redone. My thought was that I have a hairline crack along the grout somewhere that is allowing water to wick in and and along to the outside.

Update #2: It's Fixed! Thanks everyone for the suggestions and advice. My working theory was that water was wicking down under the bottom frame and finding its way into the frame attachment holes. This appears to be what was happening. I ended up pulling out all the caulk around the inside of the shower on that side and replaced it with fresh silicone. That seems to have done the trick. Bingo, no more water on the ground!

I recently bought my first house and I noticed some rot happening beside our garage door. It appears that when the cement driveway was poured, they got too close to the siding and now water is wicking up into the wood. I figure I can cut back the siding and replace it but how do I stop this from happening again?
