Reading this as a SEA person, made me irrationally mad. Tempeh Goreng with rice and sambal (chili gravy) is so nice.

There used to be a fast food shop called Mekka Hut in Reading, near Cemetery Junction. They make the best biryani I have ever taste but got closed down when I was a teenager. Even now as an adult, I would compare every Biryani I've had to the Mekka Hut Biryani.

At this point I don't know if it's nostalgia, if I tried it again would it still be the best. Or was it because the happiness of hanging out with my mum and brother while eating. Everyone was so busy.

Thank you for reading my Reading post

Officer #1: [repeating through megaphone] The one with the phone, tweets!

Officer #2: [handing out phones] One out of two gets a phone.

Officer #1: The one without, follows him! When the one with the phone gets killed, the one who is following picks up the phone and tweets!

I might be wrong but isn't jasmine rice a type of white rice?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Same, for me basmati for biryani, pilaf type dishes. Jasmine for everyday and glutinous rice for special days.
