A privacy law that only works for paying customers? I think we can do far better than that.

There are plenty of judges without this conflict of interest available. They recuse themselves because ethically it is what is right. There is no shame, it is normal procedure.
A judge who has a large investment should not rule on a case that they have a financial interest in. Even if you believe they could remain impartial it breeds distrust in the process.
So you are arguing they should prove 100% that their claim is true but that is not how it works. Corruption is a real issue and your hand waving isn't making it go away.
Let me get this straight, just because they could stand to gain financially does not mean they should recuse themselves. Furthermore we have to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt decision X results is Y extra money to satisfy you.

No modern US media has any credibility anymore. They are owned by a handful of wealthy people who don't give a shit about truth or journalistic integrity.

Texas already allows companies to pollute all they want. You see they are in charge of regulating themselves... Yeah you heard that right. They keep track of their own pollution and are responsible for reporting spills and accidents. No real penalties for lack of reporting either.
I am going to assume letting companies police their own pollutants is fucking stupid.

I deny your economic reality. There is no reason social media needs to charge. It can be run purely on volunteers and donations. It may not be able to be as big as FB but that is okay. We don't need giant multimedia companies running social media anyways.
We need strong privacy protections for everyone, not just paying customers. It is time to put an end to targeted advertising.
