I'm French Canadian. A friend of mine lives in Paris. I go to Paris fairly often. When I'm there, I speak exclusively English to anyone I don't know.

If I speak French, my god damn native tongue, they either make sure to tell me my accent is horrendous or they reply in German. In either case, they take this condescending tone... You know the one.

When I speak English, not only do I have the upper hand on the language, but they don't know I can understand them perfectly. Win win for me.

Vous êtes chiants, les Parisiens.

Is it me or 12% is kinda low for such a big system to manage?

Don't get me wrong, we need to tackle this problem from every direction, but I was expecting more, especially by 2030.

I looked up Last Thursdayism also, it did not disappoint :

if the world was created 6,000 years ago with the appearance of being made billions of years ago, what is there to stop us from claiming it was made Last Thursday?

The debate on whether Last Thursdayism is true has raged on ever since the creation of the universe last Thursday.

Funny. As Canadians, we say we're Americans when we do stupid shit abroad.

Tucker Carlson responded to today’s verdict in what can only be described as an apocalyptic tone, stating on X that the jury’s decision marked “the end of the fairest justice system in the world.” The former Fox News host said that Trump would still win the election “if he’s not killed first,” and closed by saying that “anyone who defends this verdict is a danger to you and your family.”

While almost every home owner will get a higher property bill this year, can you guess who will get to pay less?

According to provincial assessment figures, the city's largest industrial property, the Irving Oil refinery, has received an assessment increase of 1.66 per cent for 2024.

However, under provincial government property tax rules, Saint John's 2.5 per cent property tax rate cut has to be shared equally with all property owners. That will reduce municipal property taxes collected on the refinery in 2024 by about $25,000.

Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin was on the passenger list of a jet which crashed killing all on board, Russia's civil aviation authority has said.

Earlier, Wagner-linked Telegram channel Grey Zone reported the Embraer aircraft was shot down by air defences in the Tver region, north of Moscow.

The jet, which was flying from Moscow to St Petersburg, was carrying seven passengers and three crew.

Prigozhin led a failed mutiny against the Russian armed forces in June.

Grey Zone said local residents heard two bangs before the crash and saw two vapour trails.

Tass news agency said the plane caught fire on hitting the ground, adding that four bodies had already been found.

The aircraft had been in the air for less than half an hour, it said.
