It should be legal to just round up a bunch of people and beat the absolute piss out of these guys. Just a savage beating to within an inch of their lives, as a warning to anybody who thinks this shit is okay or cool.

Side note: what happened to all the 3rd party chuds after the election? I guess they're all just going to sit on their hands and do fuck all until 4 years from now when they need to heroically arrive on the scene and convince everybody to toss away their vote for someone they just heard about because they're mad at the inevitable Dem centrist pick.

idk man, if the DNC won't run a progressive, why can't we get a grassroots movement behind one?

The Supreme Court can’t take back an amendment the way they can strike down laws (I.e. by ruling it unconstitutional for whatever reason), because it IS constitutional by definition.

Yeah, but the problem is that the Supreme Court are also the arbiters of the interpretation of the document, and there's nothing to suggest that they can't simply come out and say "Oh, it means two consecutive terms", which is exactly what Putin does in Russia with their term limits - some stooge takes over for a term and then Putin wins in yet another landslide.

I mean, the 22nd Amendment is very clean, IMO. "No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice" is pretty unambiguous, but I really can't put anything past this corrupt administration. A coup is probably more likely, but if Trump can somehow get the law on his side he won't need to, so I'm sure he would prefer that route.

A crook and convicted felon fills his cabinet with folk who probably can't pass an FBI security screening? Color me shocked.

The robber barons are back, baby

Yeah, for real. These guys lack imagination if Matt Gaetz for AG is the "worst possible" pick for AG.

How about AG Barack Obama?

How about AG George Soros?

How about AG Vermin Supreme?

Trump is real fucking stupid, but he's smart enough to pick someone who isn't going to be good at the job of prosecuting criminals considering he is one. His one criteria for this position is loyalty and Gaetz seems to have that going for him. Doesn't matter in the end of he's ineffective because Trump doesn't have an interest in actually governing.

I like to ask anybody in a tirade against "wokeness" or "DEI" what their definitions of those words are and what they find objectionable about it.

If they can define it correctly (most can't), they usually can't put into words what they don't like about it other than that the idea of other people being treated equitably and respectfully makes them feel threatened , vulnerable, or marginalized. Which is absurd, but expecting these people to think beyond themselves is asking too much.

Yes, but he's far too old at this point to run. We don't have anybody on the left who is a rockstar dem-socialist except for maybe AOC, and Democrats are probably not going to run another woman in the race for POTUS for another 50 years after these last two embarrassing defeats, so I wouldn't get my hopes up for that.

Meanwhile, the right is grooming an entire cadre of Trump's successors so they can keep the MAGA gravy train rolling long after the evil bastard croaks.

Someone said something in the YouTube comments of a political video I was watching yesterday that really resonated with me:

"I wish the Democrats could find someone who talks about billionaires the same way Donald Trump talks about immigrants."

Unlimited money in politics is the poison in our society. When money = speech, billionaires will always have the loudest voice in the room.

No, the US version of Brexit was Trump's first term, since they both happened in the same year.

This is just people saying they know exactly how bad Brexit went the first time and they want that again.

It's funny, I love chili and I love mac and cheese, but I find ChiliMac to be somehow worse than the sum of it's parts.

Hello everyone,

There has been a lot of new traffic to Lemmy in the past few weeks due to the turmoil at Reddit. A lot of you may be Reddit refugees, like I am, and are missing their old favorite subs right about now.

I think it's more important than ever for regular users to step up and take an active role in rebuilding their communities, and I wasn't sure that things would ever get going unless somebody stepped up to the plate and made the effort, and I didn't want to wait around for someone else to take the initiative when I already had a strong desire to see this sort of content brought over to Lemmy.

Now that the first step has been taken, I'm inviting others who might be interested in building or managing this community to join me in making this the best version of asksciencefiction possible.

I have never been affiliated with /r/asksciencefiction or even been a moderator at reddit before. Preferably, I would like to hand off ownership of this community to somebody who has a strong desire to build and grow the community and enforce the rules. If that sounds like something you are interested in, please don't hesitate to send me a private message.

Thank you!
