then there are the people with germophobic OCD that COVID just made spiral into irrationality, like my brother's wife.

she was a teacher until COVID and now she makes all kinds of exhausting and irrational demands on everyone around her because of her OCD that COVID exacerbated and she refuses to recognize and deal with it properly. which makes it even harder to discuss reasonable hygiene measures, because people with OCD make irrational demands and make everyone who cares about hygiene/COVID prevention seem to be mentally ill.
