Most likely the headphones are doing the translation and end up sending a normal signal like any other headphone would. Meaning that if it's not working it's either the app you are using in Linux, the drivers, or the DE.

Give us some more details on what software you were using on Linux, what distro you are using and what DE

Wouldn't a general location be important here?

Like if I said that I trust X toilet paper brand that only exists in the US, how would I know that it helped in any way? Maybe you live in Ireland?

Nice, just straight up admit to it.

At least they are honest, right?

BS

I'm not advocating we live in clean rooms, I'm advocating for masks in highly crowded areas or when people are sick.

Don't make it sound like I'm asking for something crazy.

We will all still get sick, but not die in the millions when the next covid hits.

But sure, masks are bad because natrual immunity blah blah blah

I hope it grows!

As far as I understand Israel doesn't claim that it didn't bomb a school area, it claims that it was filled with terrorists and had to go.

If I'm understanding this right, Israel is saying "this is the price that Gaza pays because we have to kill the terrorists" while also trying to minimize to the press how many civilians were actually caught up in these bombings.

Basically killing Hamas is above any Palestinian human rights for Israel, though I suspect that if the world wasn't watching, the genocidal government there would actually just straight up give orders to kill them all.

To me this feels like a scapegoat, what she did was horribly irresponsible and she deserves to be in prison, but 25 years? That's something you give a murderer, not a fatally irresponsible person.

I think this helps people feel good about the lack of gun control, because now they can say "yes, it's dangerous, but the consequences are very serious so it stops people from ignoring the dangers"

Logic is great, people are not logical.

Logic: wearing a mask is easy, beneficial to society and saves lives.

People: but I'm uncomfortable 😭😭😭

Fuck people.

In my state/country it has reached a point where people hate masks so much that I can't wear one without being ridiculed, someone getting angry or be harassed about how they are actually bad for my health and it was all a hoax

One time that happened to me so I just didn't boot into windows for a few months and then just decided to rm it

I didn't think pain kink is common. As a guy, if my partner seems in pain I instantly lose half my erection out of worry that I hurt them.

Which is a real problem when your partner's pleasured face is the same as their pained face.

Probably shit my self.

Not because it's scary or something, just because I have so much power that I can shit myself and no one would dare say anything.

I think i'm starting to understand dictators

I always wondered why did some startup get what seems like a specials symbol, just the letter S.

How is that decision made and why was the symbol S free? Is it really special or was it just some coincidence?

I have a Pixel 4a (with Calyx) for a few years already (start of 2021) and it's still going great. The battery is okay. Everything works nice. It's smooth. It runs everything perfectly fine.

This makes me glad to see that hardware wise this phone was really built to last, I can't even count how many times I dropped it so hard that I was scared to see the damage (which was always either nothing or a broken screen protector)

But software wise I'm screwed as security updates are already gone from Google and I only get the extended support from Calyx which will also end soon.

Now I'm forced to choose between having a phone that is insecure or buying a new one.

So thanks Google for the high quality hardware, but what's up with this software planned obsolescence??

I know this isn't exactly right to repair, but it also kind of is because if Google decided to ditch the 4a, they should be forced to open source the software so that the public can actually repair it.

I'm sure that some of their latest updates can be modified slightly to work for the 4a, but they don't care and for them this is a win-win since they don't have to maintian support and they get new customers who would otherwise be satisfied with an "old" phone.

What happened to the days when an old phone meant a phone that was already crumbling to pieces, and not a fully functional computer that is slightly older then a toddler?

Hi, I think in metric units, so almost everything is some form of a power of 10, like a kilogram is a 1000 grams, etc.

Sometimes I will think of an hour and half as 150 minutes before remembering that it is 90 minutes.

Does something similar happen to imperial units users? Because as far as I understand you don't have obvious patterns that would cause you to make these mistakes, right?

I strongly suspect that I have ADHD, but I can't see the benifit of getting diagnosed.

I know that if I get diagnosed and offically have ADHD I can get some medicine but I don't think I want that in any case.

Can you share your experience and what benifit you got from getting offically diagnosed?

I have a home server and I have some HTTP services running on it. I'm thinking if I should even bother with HTTPS, as I'm already using tail scale which should be peer-to-peer and encrypted. So I shouldn't worry about any men in the middle.

Am I missing something?

It just feels wrong to work with non-S HTTP :(

Hi!

I have an HP 360 which has a touch screen and I never found a DE that is great for both regular input and touch input.

Kde is great for regular stuff but meh with touch, gnome is the other way around.

I was thinking of trying out hyperland but didn't look into it's touch compitability.

Any suggestions?

I use arch btw.

So I met this girl by chance and we really hit it off, once I learned of her age I decided to just be friends as I think that 19 to 25 is an age were we mature a lot and I remember myself as a 19yo and I was not mature enough to be a good partner and to be good to myself.

I talked to a female friend of mine and she said that I'm over thinking it and that I should ask her out and be open minded, and so I did and we are going on a date soon.

The thing is, she seems really mature but I can't put aside the age gap.

Am I over thinking it? Should I really just take it slow and just be vigilant about the situation and notice if this isn't healthy for me or her?

Or should I let her down easy and continue as friends?

Update: We went on a date and it was great, I read all of the comments and there were some really good advices that I took to heart. I will take things slow and try to be as aware of the situation as possible. I hope it will go well :)

Thank you everyone!
