In what way is it torture and suffering, do explain. Research animals almost without exception have better quality of life than industrial farms.

agony-deep

If that's your defence I really don't know what to say

Canada literally has pretty much a straight line across flat land which is home to about half the country/20 million people in the form of the Quebec City-Windsor corridor and somehow doesn't have HSR which is wild

Not 100% related but one thing I've noticed here is that it seems to have some trouble differentiating between places where you can cycle and places where you can walk. So if I'm trying to get walking directions in a place where for whatever reason the bike path doesn't have an accompanying sidewalk it will just tell you to walk in the bike path. Conversely it seems to not realise that certain streets/areas aren't for bikes at certain times and will try and have you bike there

Trying to make my own soy milk today (well tomorrow bc the beans need to soak), not because I don't like the stuff at the store, or even because it's cheaper (it's not), but just because I thought it would be cool and fun. Hopefully it goes well

That may be, but the fact of the inequality remains (and it remains a bad thing imo)

If the romantic poets were complaining bitterly about how they've been wronged by women because they don't want to date them then yeah maybe they were

Socialism is when you ignore the fact that tropes can play out in many different ways and that particular manifestations of it can in fact reflect broader social issues

I know everyone here is doing China discourse here but the honestly not insignificant inequality that remained in the USSR is kinda interesting to see.

It’s really striking to me how the climate has shifted online since Biden won. Obviously libs have always been anticommunist, but under Trump I feel like there was at least a vague understanding that the far right is a legitimate threat in the way that the far left is not. Now though, it’s like the the far right has been forgotten, it’s a spectre conjured up only for its utility for slandering the left. I guess this is probably because Trump is viewed as an aberration, and one which was dealt with in 2020 when the system worked and people realised he wasn’t fit to be president. The libs cannot imagine that Trump could be re-elected, nor can they imagine that the issues run much deeper, just as they couldn’t in 2016. So if the far right no longer exists, it’s only natural that they should fall back into their default focus on demonising the left.

I was top level tankie even as an anarchist. True left unity concentrated in my person

(i.e. when it comes to casualties and many other things)

Obviously this is just kinda coming out of my ass, but I'm almost certain that 100,000 people have already died. Can't say what the exact number is obviously, but I imagine it's the kind of thing that the lib media would rather not release because it would dampen people's enthusiasm for it
