See, this disingenuous argument works better when you just generalize it, because when you get into specifics it looks very different. Example:

Step 1: label the people that hold the belief that ‘trans people are subhuman trash that need to be excised from society by violence if necessary’ as intolerant

Step 2: skip diplomacy because they refuse to engage in actual conversation

Step 3: use force on them because they are actually attacking trans people.

Although really even parts 2 & 3 are disingenuous, because there are plenty of examples of people trying to engage the intolerant in debate, far beyond what would really be reasonable even. And you’ll also notice that force is rarely, if ever, used against those intolerant folks either, even as they use force, even deadly force.

Hell, even the law won’t do more than slap their wrists in many cases. I use trans people as an example because until recently, ‘I went on a date with this lady and then found out she was trans, and I was so shocked I killed her’ was an actual legitimate legal defense and several people used it. If we’re being pedantic, that defense is still perfectly acceptable at the national level, as several bills banning it have been introduced, but none have been passed.

I’m sure people said that about passenger pigeons too at one point.

Huh, your slur got removed. Didn’t realize World did that, thought it was just ml or something.

I mean, you did kinda leave yourself open for that one.

See, Britain just needs Ugly Laws, like what America had up until 1974! Then they could just have the guy arrested!

In all seriousness what the fuck. What goes through a person’s head that they think treating someone that way is even remotely okay?

If you’re into cooking, history, or both, Tasting History with Max Miller is great. Lots of wonderful history, from the common to the obscure. He works hard to find primary sources for every story he shares, as well as calling out fake stories. He also corrects himself when he gets something wrong. And the recipes are fascinating!

Been getting into Bonsai Mirai lately. Very educational, in-depth videos about how to do Bonsai, with tips for everyone from a beginner to an expert. Also very relaxing to watch.

My aunt had a cat who basically lived in the whole condo complex and probably begged food from everyone lol. But he’d also just go to other people’s places to hang out.

I remember one day when we were out for a walk, and we passed by a neighbor’s place and there her cat was, on the back of the guy’s sofa, watching football with the neighbor on his big screen TV.

When she moved away, everyone dropped by to say goodbye to her cat.

When my uncle was growing up in Alaska, the guy who owned the big General Store in town had a pet bobcat.

From what my uncle said, the guy was a mountain of a man, so at first you’d see him across the store holding the bobcat and petting it, and be like, ‘oh, normal guy with a cat.’ And then you’d get closer and be like ‘Oh… that’s a bobcat.’

When not demanding pets, the bobcat would spend his time going from exposed rafter to exposed rafter, monitoring his domain.

But these are not sharks or black bears. These are humans who can change their behavior. The more people act like you and just accept it as normal, fine, business as usual, the more this becomes a problem.

It is not acceptable, never should be, and we should never consider it so.

Simple: the people electing him are racist white southerners.

Those kids in the 60s treating their new black classmates like shit, the white teens pouring drinks over black teens doing soda-counter sit-ins, the young white couple that’s all smiles as they attend a lynching… they didn’t just poof out of existence when the Civil and Voting Rights Acts were passed. They grew up, had kids that they taught their racist bullshit to.

And all of them vote.

I’m going to give this loon a bit more charitable interpretation and guess they meant we blew up our own buildings in order to have an excuse to go to war in the Middle East so we could get the gold in Nimrod’s tomb.

Which… is even crazier than the tomb being under the twin towers. We killed all those people and destroyed all that real estate to start a very expensive war… for some gold.

I mean, boy, that tomb better be like Smaug’s lair in that case, or our government tripped over a dollar to pick up a dime.

The scary thing is I think some of them (like Muskrat) do believe it… even though they have no idea how AI even works or how to build a robot like in the pic. They just come up with the idea and then hand off all the actual planning to others, and then strut around like roosters in a barnyard feeling oh-so-smart.

And these rich idiots want this stuff in order to keep all the money for themselves instead of paying an actual human for art/programming/writing (in the case of AI) or so they don’t have to deal with a real human being with their own needs and wants (in the case of a robot ‘wife’). They just don’t want other ‘inferior’ people around them, period.

Which just goes to show what they think of marriage, I suppose.
