Can I get an ELI5 on what Mesa does?

Logistics is important.

I don't know what cave-in this art is referring to but I like the idea of a tank being scared.

The young woman on the left comes from a conservative (I think Muslim) family that doesn't like her playing soccer. The movie is about her navigating the pressure. It's been a while but I remember it being pretty good

So like Rimworld with Francis John - Anomoly - S01E01 - H265 - An Unlikely group of researchers.mkv?

I have some 1440p videos that I've downloaded off youtube but they use either the AV1 or VP9 codec. I'd like to watch these on my phone but it can't direct play those codecs and my iGPU can't transcode them so it has to be done in software extremely slowly.

So I'd like to transcode the videos ahead of time into either h264 or h265 which my phone can direct play but I don't want to get rid of the originals. So can I have two copies of the same episode but using different codecs? How would I name them? Would jellyfin be smart enough to send the right video based on what my phone supports?

The videos are currently named like so:

'Rimworld with Francis John - Anomoly - S01E01 - An Unlikely group of researchers.mkv'
'Rimworld with Francis John - Anomoly - S01E02 - New weapons, new threats, new research.mkv'
'Rimworld with Francis John - Anomoly - S01E03 - Small colony equals few options.mkv'

I have a folder called "Let's Plays" with sub-folders like so:

  • Among Us with Jeremy Dooley
  • Factorio with Zisteau - Space Exploration
  • Minecraft with GoodTimesWithScar - HermitCraft
  • Rimworld with Mr Samuel Streamer - Mushroom Madness

In each of those folders I have folders for each "season" (for long-going series the seasons are by year (Season 2024) but are otherwise "season 1")

Then the videos/thumbnails themselves are like this:

untouchedwagons@storage:/mnt/tank/Media/Videos/Let's Plays/R/Rimworld with Mr Samuel Streamer - Mushroom Madness$ ls *
'Season 1':
'Rimworld with Mr Samuel Streamer - Mushroom Madness - S01E01 - The Mushroom Apocalypse.jpg'
'Rimworld with Mr Samuel Streamer - Mushroom Madness - S01E01 - The Mushroom Apocalypse.mp4'
'Rimworld with Mr Samuel Streamer - Mushroom Madness - S01E02 - Taking Back the City.jpg'
'Rimworld with Mr Samuel Streamer - Mushroom Madness - S01E02 - Taking Back the City.mp4'
'Rimworld with Mr Samuel Streamer - Mushroom Madness - S01E03 - How Far Would You Go_.jpg'
'Rimworld with Mr Samuel Streamer - Mushroom Madness - S01E03 - How Far Would You Go_.mp4'
'Rimworld with Mr Samuel Streamer - Mushroom Madness - S01E04 - Scientific Breakthrough.jpg'
'Rimworld with Mr Samuel Streamer - Mushroom Madness - S01E04 - Scientific Breakthrough.mp4'

In Jellyfin I have a library for these Let's Plays that are separate from my regular TV Shows.

I use JDownloader 2 to download youtube videos. I normally only download two to three videos a day so doing it all manually isn't that big of an ask, though editing metadata on mkv's is a bit of a pain.

I think it started with Linus and Luke of Linus Tech Tips doing a 30 day linux challenge to see what it's like daily driving linix. Jeff of Craft Computing did one recently as well.

I download Let's Play series off of Youtube and sort them to watch through Jellyfin at a later time. I also download the thumbnails. On June 9 I upgraded the Jellyfin server from 10.9.1 to 10.9.6 and thumbnail importing broke somewhere inbetween those two versions.

As you can see, episode 25 which I downloaded on June 7 has its thumbnail while episode 26 which was downloaded June 12 does not. This happens for all videos I've added. I've double checked that the images are not corrupt and that the file names match.

[Edit]

I rolled back to 10.9.1, did a refresh and all the missing thumbnails were picked up immediately

I'm considering switching from Windows 10 to something either using KDE or the new Cosmic DE that System76 is working on. Right now I've got a 3060TI.

A few hours ago I received a PM from someone and I replied. I clicked edit but chose not to change anything so I clicked save and my entire message was deleted! Fortunately the message wasn't very long so I didn't have to type much but still.

The main mod for this colony was Vanilla Factions Expanded Empire which greatly improves the Empire. I think I got my main pawn to Archcount.

One of my design goals was no rectangular rooms which I think I achieved. The rooms in the bottom left were intended to be guest rooms for royals so they'd be fairly copy and paste aside from colour scheme.

This is my one main complaint about Fedora Linux.

When the video is nearly finished this little box pops up prompting you about what video is going to play next, could we get a button to mark the current video as a favourite?

I bought a Roku Stick the other day to take with me on trips so I can watch my videos in the hotel room. I hooked it up and installed the jellyfin app and started watching a TV show. After about a minute playback stopped and I was returned to the home screen of the Jellyfin app but the only thing that was listed were my libraries. I exited and re-entered the jellyfin app and started watching the same episode. The same thing happened.

Jellyfin logs: https://pastebin.com/eCPp3Tiu Transcode logs: https://pastebin.com/9uAVePbW

I only tried the one video, I'll try some others and see what happens.

[Edit] I tried a couple of other videos and they seem to be fine, must be something particular with that one video
