That is one doozy of a headline

IDK man the summary seems to disagree on the mains

A North Carolina town rejected the further installation of solar panels; some residents registered fears that the panels would disrupt the local ecosystem, while many others worried property values would be affected.

I saw what you are referring to, and I'm choosing to believe (to save my braincells, I know its probably wrong) that she was worried about products used in cleaning the panels or ground leaching of chemicals used in the maintenance or manufacture of the panels.

The full quote makes this clearer:

Semiconductor manufacturing equipment – such as the lithography tools that make the chips – is another field in which China significantly lags. The report cites one unnamed commentator who believes China could be five generations behind in this field.

Ezell warned that does not mean the US and allies can "rest on their laurels," else "they risk seeing a significant diminution of their industries."

The US does nothing to ward against rampant foreign propaganda and the wholesale evisceration of our industrial infrastructure, demonizes our educational institutions and cuts research grants down to a miniscule fraction across all disciplines, caters to anti-intellectual religions, does nothing to curtail the constant sale of industrial secrets and now suddenly we notice we're slipping inevitably from our technological advantage. Bizzare how that happens.

It's an awkward position to be in these days, wanting someone out of your establishment. I'd argue that calling the police on a homeless / queer / brown / black / trans person is recklessly gambling with their life. If you want them off your property but don't want them killed, you're not left with a lot of options. I don't have a solution here, I just want to highlight that the degradation of public institutions in the US has gotten to the point that you really can't just casually phone the cops unless you're comfortable with the possibility of some blood on your hands.

Some of them no doubt, a lot of them are younger voters that are just sick of their country never having been sliding down into more and more blatant evil for their entire lives.

Cilantro and coriander come from the same plant, coriandrum sativum. In North America, cilantro refers to the leaves and stalks, while coriander refers to the dried seeds. Cilantro has a citrusy flavor, while coriander seeds have an earthy taste with floral notes.

TIL. This explains why my sibling hates anything seasoned with coriander, as well as any inclusion of cilantro.

There's not much nutrition on a coffee fruit, so civets have to consume a whole bunch per day. This results in excessively large poops.

- source: my 8yo nephew, who knows far too much about poop.

Lmao traits that as we all know have never been ascribed to the american public, or the human species in general.

(Unrelated but dude, an entreaty: If this is bait it's pretty weak. And even if it's not you might want to try taking a break from the internet, it's making you act like a stooge.)

((Seriously you're not going to get me to argue that the US isn't fundementally broken. I just want the ways it's broken to be accurately recorded, is all))
