Brave New World

My point was important too and I even stated it twice. Get off your high horse :)

You're really good at sticking to your point and ignoring all else. I've reiterated twice now but you're clearly going to keep ignoring. (While also being sanctimonious.) I've already said we have to vote blue, what more do you want? Just to argue?

Sure, there are some things the parties disagree on. That's what they use to sow division and keep the system in place. But I listed four things that both parties engage in. These are just some examples of norms that are terrible for our democracy but that will not go away so long as we have this current voting system.

You asked for a plan, here it is: vote blue when you have to but the work does not stop at voting. Get in contact with grassroots organizations and make an actual difference. Or we can just tell people to vote blue every four years and wonder why Americans don't feel represented in government.

It can be news on topics you're interested in, blogs on topics you're interested in, comics, subreddits, etc. To give an idea, I follow:

  • Ars Technica for tech news
  • NASA for space news
  • Local blogs on food/events/news/ going on in my city
  • RockPaperShotgun for gaming news
  • "A Collection of Unmitigated Pedantry" for blog posts from a history professor
  • Richard Y Chappell for blog posts from a philosophy professor
  • A few YouTube channels
  • A few niche Reddit feeds
  • XKCD for comics (most webcomic artists have an RSS feed)

Depending on your RSS app, you can also follow podcasts. I use InoReader for the above but I prefer a dedicated podcast app. There's good/entertaining RSS feeds on the internet if you're willing to curate it! It's nice to get away from internet comments.

Honestly, just set up an RSS feed. The internet is a bunch of isolated echo-chambers where you self-select into the chamber with the narrative you favor.

I understand that modern outer layers are more functional. A leather jacket, for example, can be dressed up or down so as to be worn in a variety of situations. It is also better at keeping you warm.

However, I think capes/cloaks are more aesthetically pleasing garments. It also feels good to have the fabric flowing around you as you walk. But what do you think?

I knew this would be unpopular when I posted it but idgaf. Everyone thinks they would take a stand and yadayadayada. Meanwhile, 99% of us will willingly adopt whatever popular tech comes out. It's happened before: it will happen again.
