If i understand correctly-You can subscribe to communities on other instances and that pulls them into your subscriber feed and the "all" feed of anyone else on your instance. but you need to join one to get the full "local" experience of another one. I joined one general instance to curate a subscibe list, and another where I want just that local experience plus I can't subscribe because admins of my instance block the other.
