If you want I can try and help with at least a starting plan. You can message me if that's something you're interested in.

Fyi: I'm a reasonably strong weight-class competitor in strongman/powerlifting. I have worked as a personal trainer in the past, and I'd like a little more experience helping folks so that I can hopefully make some income instead of being unemployed lol. So my help would be free

Are you talking about deadlift bars?

Pants (especially leggings), long socks, or just accepting scrapped up legs all work well.

This is great! I don't know if you record your sets to watch your technique, but it helps immensely.

I have some thoughts about why you may be hitting your knees/shins on the way down. If you want to send a couple videos I can help you out. Or I can just give you my 2 cents without them.

They are cheaper and easier to carry than machine guns obviously

Absolutely, but it's different. For-profit media needs to maximize, well profits. So their platforms will be designed around this. If they profit from advertisements that means they need you to be using the app as much as possible and it will be designed to manipulate you into using the app, engaging with content, making content, etc.

Without those incentives, people can browse differently. Though we are products of our environment, so if we have been trained to use social media in a certain way, we are still likely to use say Lemmy that same way.

I'm not siding with you, but I'd like to take your idea and make it..... Useful.

Anytime someone engages in civil disobedience (like a protest) it is crucial that the correct people are targeted.

For example: if you want to stop your school from investing in Israel you target the administration (President, VP, investment managers etc.) and specifically those who make the decisions. This could be protesting at fundraisers so that it deeply affects the image of the school and those in charge, and serves as a threat of reduced funding.

You wouldn't, for example, go into the classroom during a lecture and yell about Israel, making the lives of the students and professors worse. Why? Because the source of power and social change is the students, staff, and faculty, at the school. And annoying them creates more enemies rather than allies.

Always do a "power analysis" to know who to talk to and bring on your side, and who you need to disrupt in order to make the change. Otherwise we ignore class solidarity (yes, soak up the pun) and are doomed to fail

That's too bad tbh. It seems like a trend following "good times" under capitalism

I know it's not your point, but learning about the Nordics way of doing things was an entry point for me to actually learn about alternatives to capitalism. All I'm saying is it's likely a great entry point of discussion with well meaning liberals, especially where they are rolling back safety nets.

I would be poofed out of existence ftom my couch, and back into existence on my couch. Most of my food is just random smatterings of what I want/have/ have to eat to fit my macros.

Example: chicken breast, bowl of mixed vegetables, grapes, and ice cream.

I've had a lot of people in my life ask what I thought about Harris. I think people want to feel optimistic, and the idea that a person "from" a marginalized group could be in power provides that hope. Yes I know idpol. But most don't.

All we can do is the same we can always do: be informed, and patient with people. Ask probing questions to get people thinking. Most of our opinions are from feeling/imposed ideology, so engaging with ideas (What do you think Kamala will do that will be so good? What makes you think that? Etc.) can force people out of that state and get them to actually consider why. Saying she's a dirty capitalist cop that should face the wall probably won't help lol.

I say this a lot, but interacting with those people isn't for those people. It's for the passive onlooker. It's well documented that being exposed to the same information/idea repeatedly can make you believe that idea. And apparently (recently learned this) negative gossip can be completely derailed by a single dissenting voice early on in the gossip.

So, if possible (safety, mental health, emotional well being etc. willing) pushing back against these anti-social opinions in public spheres can prevent the spread of them.

Don't give the fascists any platform. Let them know that nowhere is safe for them and their hate.

So I have a situation where I would like to keep data secure. In my mind if I'm working on a computer that has no network connection, this is the safest.

However, I may from time to time need to transfer data to this machine, which introduces a vulnerability. Any thoughts on how I could minimize the risk in this case?
