Afaik, you can just download windows and run it, you'll just get an "activate windows" prompt that might be annoying. It's great if you just want to try something out if you need windows to update firmware of a peripheral.

Did you set your notification check to instant or interval? Instant wrecked my battery, i set it to 10 min intervals and it barely uses any power now.
Did you look at the peripheral? It looks like a little desk mounted key switch that plugs into usb. It doesn't mount or use the usb port for support
Hopefully the minecart challenge isn't as impossible to beat as it used to be.
