Jerboa is a native-android client for Lemmy, built using the native android framework, Jetpack Compose.

Warning: You can submit issues, but between Lemmy and lemmy-ui, I probably won't have too much time to work on them. Learn jetpack compose like I did if you want to help make this app better.

What is the easier way to tag other users in Jerboa? I noticed if I use @ symbol and type a username nothing really happens and it just posts plain text. In Boost if you do this it pulls up the username from any instances it's on and you can just choose who you want to tag. I realize the simplest solution is to just use Boost for this, but I like Jerboa so much better lol

You don't have to be an admin to ban users from the /c/ you mod and i did it via lemmy ui. This bug is litteraly rendering all the mod tools you guys/gals made useless if you can please do a hot fix.

Search Profile Comments-

I usually don't think about it but I went to find a comment I made to find an old post. Is there a way we can integrate a search function for are own profile?

It's useful when you're done with a post or comment, but I don't see how to do it in Jerboa or in Lemmy general. Is this possible? If not, is there energy behind this feature?

I am no programmer and am not sure if I am allowed to post this here, so delete if you want.

My suggestion: Like the default sort for posts we need a default sort for comments. There should be a dropdown menu like there already is for default sort posts.

I use Jerboa in list view, which gives me a nice, compact presentation of a number of posts on my phone screen. This is great, except now the list is full of left-right scrolling text whenever a community name is too long to display in the allotted space. This is very distracting, and I would love to turn off this scrolling

I looked through the settings, but I don't see a way to turn this off, or a way to simply not display the community name at all (not my preference, but I'd take it over the scrolling)

Can anyone help? My post listings look like they are on a web page from 1998

Edit: Now I see that the scrolling is also applied to long user names as well, and is used in areas other than post listings. This seems to have just started with the latest release. I really hope this can be turned off in settings. It feels like geo-cities in here

How can I disable the feature that makes it so you can upvote a post (or comment) by sliding it to the left? It's making it a bit more difficult for me to scroll on my phone.

Thank you!

Sry about the last borked release. I added a CI task to prevent it from happening again.

Sry about the last release, had a critical bug.

Using Jerboa for lemmy. Going into the community only loads a number of posts, sorted according to whatever sort I have selected, but never loading any more than that. It's a little irritating, especially when I want to scroll through a community that gets a lot of posts daily or weekly. Is there a setting I have disabled/enabled? is this a bug or a feature?

I try to crosspost sometimes to reach more people.

I dont get it.

"Share permalink" copies some weird clone of the post on my homeserver.

And someone told me I should crosspost, but this is not available.

Shouldnt "share post" be a link on the server of the community? Would that be a crosspost?

Thanks people! Jerboah is the best Lemmy app but this is very strange.

I want to pre-emptively filter out posts with certain words in the title

Every time I try to use the text link to URL ()[] and go to hit the "ok" button, the entire windows goes away. The work around is to hit the keyboard minimise to uncover the buttons.

Press anywhere but the keyboard and ya loose everything you type.

Another bug is when you try to paste anything in the body it pastes it at the beginning of the body regardless if where in the text you have highlighted.

Sometimes an instance will load but in unable to view comments (can't remember what it said) you need to clear the app cache to fix the issue

This is about it, otherwise this is my fav Lemmy app around.
Keep up the good work.

Ps before you ask this is the only app I've encountered these issues with

is jerboa going to have better markdown support? For example, superscript and subscript markdown does not work.

93

Is there a way to unblock an instance on the app? I have accidentally blocked an instance like 3 times since the new update and have to go to the website each time

I know this is slightly niche but it's it possible to have a preview of what link I'm about to open before it actually opens? I realise I can long press the link for similar functionality, but my finger muscle memory isn't to long press it's to single press. I was thinking of something like a dialog that asked if you wanted to open the real link behind there text. It could be an optional setting as I'm sure a lot of users would like the current behaviour.

Quite a few times I've clicked a link disguised as text and been sent to something I didn't want to see 😂.

Just curious. I looked through the settings and didn't see anything regarding push notifications, but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask in case I'm missing anything.

If not, are there any plans to introduce them? I wouldn't complain either way, honestly. I'm not sure if I'd even enable them. On one hand, they can be too attention-grabby. But without them, sometimes I feel like I have to keep opening the app to check. I know I'm a little phone dependent, but I'm working on it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This is unrelated, but I just wanted to say thanks to the devs! I've been on here for a few months and it's been a great experience. Y'all rock :D

Do others encounter hidden comments in Jerboa? Many comments do not appear in the app. I can tell they are missing based on the comment count at the bottom of a post.

Sometimes, I can only read child comments. When this occurs, the following error message appears in place of the parent comment.

There is no record of this comment.

However, I can read those same comments in a web browser. Also, I can read replies to my post or comment in my inbox in Jerboa, but not on the community page in Jerboa.

Is this a known or new bug?

For example that red "no person" symbol. I've seen another one that looks like a redish pinkish "no message" icon. What do they mean and are there more symbols like that on Jerboa?

EDIT: While I do appreciate the input, it's surprising that there is no authoritative answer. The git also doesn't specify what these icons mean.

98

If I search for an instance and go onto it Jerboa is only loading the 10 most recent posts for me, no further. It only started doing this recenty. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I keep missing the vote buttons and accidentally tap on comments which then collapses them. I've accidentally collapsed/expanded some comments several times trying to vote.

Is there a setting somewhere I'm not seeing that changes this? Maybe to a long press or force needing to use the three dot menu to collapse instead.

Back in my days on Reddit, my favourite feature was the ability to hide individual posts if I had downvoted them. It made it easy to hide things which I didn't want to see or felt shouldn't be seen
