Anyone else seeing this?

My device is 2 years old, Accubattery claims 70% battery health, but I still get 6h+ SOT on a single charge since recently updating to Android 13 (SparkOS). Device is Redmi Note 10 Pro.

I am a stickler for launchers. I love the general stock Android feel, but also love those old school iPhone jailbreak levels of customization where it makes no fucking sense but you have the option to do it anyways just cause. The best launcher I ever found for my tastes was Evie. Extremely simple with no ads, bordering on the stock Android experience, with great quality of life features such as assignable gestures, adjustable icon size, icon packs, and notification count on apps you can turn on if you'd like. Unfortunately, the launcher stopped receiving updates in 2011. Some functionality is starting to be lost, like news and weather integration on the left of the home screen. I'm rocking a OnePlus 6t if that matters to anybody. What launchers are good now?

Pro photographer Olle Nillson goes out on a forest stakeout to capture stunning bokeh shots of birds. The results are stunning.

If you're interested in seeing how other Xperia models perform, check his other videos. Production value of off the charts.

I promise you they are well worth your time.

Hi,

I'm looking for a case that not only has a screen protector that's not a glorified sticker. But also a way that has a magsafe back so I can use a magnetic wireless charger.

I've seen quite a few that's the former (my current one), a few the latter, but none that are both :(

Thanks!

Hello everyone, I'm new here and I've got a fairly serious question/problem.

I've used Bromite for a long time, and now with the threat of CVE-2023-4863, I can't help but constantly fear getting screwed over by a malicious image. I've tried looking myself but cannot find an answer if bromite is vulnerable to this threat, mostly because the main developer of the browser hasn't been active for a very long time.

I'd love to switch to another browser but to transfer all my data would require root access, which could damage my pixel 6. So I'm kinda stuck in a jam.

Can anyone please help me?

I know there are a lot on Ali Express and I'm curious if any are compatible with a FOSS app. I have tried using Tile products in the past but the app and the way they implemented a membership was a bit annoying.

Does anyone know of an app that provides this? I found this but it's so old it's incompatible with newer devices. 😓

Just to reiterate, I'm looking for a notification on my phone to inform me when my watch battery is full, so I can run to the other room and pull it off the charger.

hi everyone, my friend’s bday is coming up and I was planning on buying him a micro sd for his Xiami Redmi 9, since lately he’s been complaining about how his storage is never enough. Would a SanDisk micro sd work just fine on his phone?

Does anyone know if there is a Firefox plugin which cleans URLs when clicking links? Similar to https://www.f-droid.org/packages/com.trianguloy.urlchecker/

I remember in older Android releases I could enable high priority banner mode for my work emails. They would stay on top of the screen as persistent banners until I manually dismissed them. Is that still a thing?

I've noticed that with Android 13 and 12 on my Moto Edge 20 Pro notifications are a real mess. Sometimes I receive a notification and it's not even on top of the list. I have to check the timestamps to see which notification is most recent.

Earlier it used to be thus for random links but almost any YouTube link in WhatsApp if clicked leads to the playback happening in a small minimised window at the bottom with the main window almost blank under it. I can pull the video up to the top where it will play in portrait mode but won't rotate to landscape. No comment section seen. YouTube links open in minimised fashion

has anyone experienced this thing where every few updates the message organization in Google messages is reduced to the 24hr auto delete for OTPs??

My category options just go away. I really like that about messages, especially the personal tab and making that the default.

I hope it's not a sign that the feature is going to the graveyard. maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Repost because I posted to the wrong community :)

I haven’t really kept up with android stuff for a while, but it looks like a handful of recent FOSS apps are using Shizuku for cool functionality. The new SDMaid uses it, and so do apps like Lemmy Redirect. In the list of apps, there’s also F-Droid, but I don’t really know what that’s for just yet.

What is it, and how does it work? Does it allow you to do anything you could otherwise need a Rooted device for? In that sense, is it unsafe / something Google will try to block in the future?

As the title says, the latest version of Facebook doesn't allow you to open links in your default browser of choice.

I am pretty sure a couple of weeks ago I was able to do that, but in the last couple of days it started opening all links in the in app browser.

If you go "Setting & Privacy > Media > Open Links in an external browser" and enable it, Facebook will still use the in app browser for opening links.

Anyway to get around this?

Looking for an app to list and export as a single text file all my installed apps -- names and package names; including Play Store apps, F-droid apps and those which origin in an apk file. I found List My Apps by Onyxbits, but can't install it unfortunately. Any alternative? preferably foss

Looking for X3 Pro Replacement, Does X5 or F5 Have the Same MB Issues?

My X3 Pro died recently out of nowhere and upon some digging around, found that it's a common issue with X3 Pro phones.

I was wondering if the new models (X5 or F5) would have the same issues. I don't want my phone to suddenly die on me after 2 years.

Coming from an SD 860, Which Chipsets are as Powerful or more Powerful?

My Poco X3 Pro just died and was looking at phones and have no idea which ones have the same or better performance than my Poco X3 Pro which had an SD 860.

I saw this chipset ranking website and wondered if this is a good start.

I'm open to non-sd chips as well because I'm not into modding.

Found this from other people on discord (pickAnAndroidPhoneForMe)

good chipsets

Dimensity 7200 ultra, 8020, 8050, 8100, 8200, 9000, 9200

SD 782G, 7gen1, 7 gen+2, 870, 8gen plus 1, 8 gen 2.

(stay away from 888, 888+, and 8 gen1 because thermal issues)

how reliable is that list?

Hello, I have a BIIIG problem. It started of me wanting to root my device. Of course, I used a random tutorial from the Internet. I did the steps carefully, but after a reboot, I had no TWRP, and I had an overlay of Download mode on top of Samsung secured by knox screen. So I downloaded another TWRP (unofficial, but stable), and after a reboot, I didn't see the system booting, I saw TWRP. I looked at file manager, and /storage/emulated/0 was empty, /data was also empty, I tried wiping the data but I have an error: Failed to mount '/data' (Invalid argument), I tried installing SAMFW.COM_SM-A526B_OPV_A526BXXS5EWI1_fac.zip via Download Mode using Odin 3, but it just failed and no file was transported. I need help, because now I don't even have a backup phone, because I had Nokia that is now hard key-locked (cannot unlock the keyboard because it's constantly locking)

I'm trying to migrate from my old LineageOS phone to my new LineageOS phone (both rooted, both without gapps) Is there any list of applicable methods or apps for this? Have you ever done something like this? Any advice and relevant links greatly appreciated.

I'm looking for a free, reputable ad blocker on the Play Store. Something that does local host/filter list filtering using the VPN feature, like Blokada 4 or 5 (before they started cloud hosting the filtering features as a money/data grab).

Personally, I'm no stranger to F-Droid or Obtanium and even have dipped my toes into ADB.

I need this for family members when they start asking, so I can point them at something decent that won't try to fleece them and get on with my life unburdened by family tech support hell. Something they can install through the Play Store they already have and easily switch on and off if something they "need" isn't working.

So that eliminates just setting their DNS to an ad blocking one in their Wi-Fi settings. Wouldn't follow them off that specific connection, and wouldn't be an easy toggle if something broke.

I'm considering flashing A13 on my phone, PixelOS in particular, but I want to make sure custom launchers (Lawnchair) are able to fully use gestures, including animations without flashing Magisk and installing the Quickswitch module.

At the end of yesterday's keynote, when Google spoke about on-device AI models, such as text to speech, etc, they said the "Pixel 8 Pro was designed to..." and left out the Pixel 8.

Since both devices are T3, I would assume they are both technically capable. Based on previous Pixel devices, do you think those features will make their way down to the non-pro model?

Reason for request: I've pre-ordered an 8 due to the size of the 8 Pro, but worried I'll be missing out on features that I actually find impressive (and are at least somewhat more privacy focused).

A friend is helping to develop a learning platform for incarcerated people, which will run on android tablets. They’re still in the planning phase and the friend mentioned that they were looking into how they could restrict access to some tablet features (ex. camera, internet, certain apps) as these are hard requirements. Apparently there are some services that can help with that management.

Are there any tools I can pass along to them? I saw this page on Dedicated Devices, but I couldn't find a guide on how to set it up. It seems like more of a technical process and it may require resources that the volunteer team doesn't have?

https://developer.android.com/work/dpc/dedicated-devices

edit: Thank you for the tips! I'm going to pass them along :)
