Ordered a PineTime (and a Pinecil) direct on 6/26/2024, it shipped from China on 6/28 and I received it today 7/5. I'm on the west coast of the US and I'm really impressed with the shipping time.

Charged it a bit, then updated to the current InfiniTime 1.14.

Bootloader is still at 1.0.0, there hasn't been any updates for that, right?

It also says to update the recovery firmware, but I don't see which version I'm currently on and couldn't find an updated version.

Otherwise, it seems nice so far. I'm on Android and setting up with GadgetBridge wasn't difficult (since I knew to pair directly from GB and not using the phones BTW pairing).

Hi folks, I‘m currently using the pinetime which a friend has given to me for testing.

So far I‘m very happy. Of course, the typical foss situation applies where you have to accept that freedom comes with responsibility. In this case it is early stage functionality in some cases like the heart rate monitor which is kinda spotty.

Cool features imo:

  • different watch faces
  • lights up when you raise your arm
  • hrm works mostly
  • 2048 game is fun
  • step counter seems accurate to me

But I already made a list of things I could possibly add to the firmware if I decide to buy one - likely the dev edition.

All in all, I‘m very impressed of the capabilities of a small company and its open source product.

Here is a summary of the changes and addition of InfiniTime 1.14:

  • Reduced memory footprint in flash memory: the analog watch face draws the background at runtime instead of using a pre-defined background picture and we moved the font for the navigation app to the external memory.
  • Improved raise-to-wake algorithm and new lower-to-sleep functionality
  • New weather service and new setting to select °C/°F
  • The build system now allows to easily select which user applications and watch faces are built into the firmware
  • Replace the node.js tool that convert the images (lv_img_conv) by a custom re-implementation in Python
  • InfiniLink, the iOS companion app has a new maintainer!

Since latest firmware update, Pinetime battery life is outstanding.

I use it daily, mostly connected to GadgetBridge to get messages (my phone vibrations are not very strong. I also use it at night to walk in my house without turning lights on.

Notice that Wake Up is not set at all, no wake up. This also keep your display off while walking/moving.

I often forget to turn off sleep mode. Is there a way to change the notification settings on a schedule?
