Lemmy was up in arms at Nintendo with their stance on emulator legal crackdown. I saw many "never again" comments. Now a new thing from a beloved franchise comes out and the tone is "gimmeeee"

Ah got it, well you cannot be sure the same people who is against Nintendo is the same who wants to play the newest Metroid (well, maybe you could, if you investigate, as Lemmy userbase is still small, it would be feasible, but it would be a waste of time IMHO).

Also there is another fraction of people who will play their games but won't support Nintendo financially 🏴‍☠️ so yeah, this subject is just not white and black I think.
