Wondering if we'll get another format war at some point or if people will just accept streaming and owning nothing

Accept nothing. Own everything. Sail the high seas.

Good point, wonder if anyone will start selling movies on USB drives, or micro SD cards in stores. The flash memory they use has come down so much in price that I could see it being cheaper than manufacturing bluray discs because you're the only one still making discs, vs flash memory where everyone is still manufacturing for storage, removable media, etc.

I don't understand your comment. Is this article suggesting no one will release their films on blu-ray?

Per the article it is saying that they will eventually cease production of them altogether. Sony owns the rights to Blu Ray so any company wanting to put their art onto it is out of luck once they stop making them altogether.

Looks like you're right I always though Sony was the only patent holder of blu ray

Since I've not heard of a new format coming out I can only assume purchasing will be out the windows. However, that just means they get less of my money. I don't mind renting movies if I'm unsure of the movie, but unless I can own a digital copy I'd never get one. The only reason I have any more is because they came "free" with the disc I purchased.
