Aside from more hilarious gaffes, will they do something really stupid like try to argue he's unpopular or illegitimate because he got shot at?

I know Biden said he hadn't heard the news, which was hilarious frankly.

It's like that time when Sanders, who ostensibly wanted to use the presidency to fight for Medicare for All, suspended his campaign out of concern for spreading covid, concerns not at all shared by those who stayed in the race.
