Generally, an artifact should be 100+ years old, but this is a flexible requirement if you find something rare and suitably linked to an era of history, not a strict rule. Anything over 100 is fair game regardless of rarity.

Normally I try to keep artifacts 100 years or older, but Herman is a fellow Marylander and I have to rep him

I know it was for the joke, but now I'm curious: can cats be identified by their paw prints?

That would be cool. Though the paws of my outdoor cats seem smooth and tough... so maybe not?
