As I’ve used Lemmy, I’ve discovered just how politically charged it can be. This is likely just due to the nature of the software and the types of people that tend to care about it, but I’d like to avoid associating with radicals, both left and right. As such, I want to make a new account on a new general-purpose instance. I can speak German, so I was thinking feddit.org or lemmy.at, but I know nothing about them. What do you suggest?

The fact that you describe ideas such as universal healthcare and transgender rights as "radical" tells me all I need to know

after being here for well over a year now, I've learned that people who call places like lemmy.world "politically charged" are usually jerks. The most politics I see there are "Hey I think we should you know, let people live their lives normally, even if they're trans". If hot takes like that make me a radical, then gee whiz I guess I am. Sorry I... want people to have health care and want people to live their lives as long as they aren't hurting anyone.

Politically charged to me means any form of politics pushing in spaces where it isn't necessary. All threads, and i mean all can get political on this instance. In fact, on lemmy as a whole

[...] you describe ideas such as universal healthcare and transgender rights [...]

Wait, am I missing something? Their post doesn't mention any of that. Can't find anything like that in their profile or modlog either.

Yeah I think the guy is bullshitting

Didn't look but I'd bet the details are in their post or comment history.

He literally never said any of that. Looked through his entire post and comment history.

Chill out dude.

Far left probably refers to the tankies that are somewhat widespread on lemmy, not universal healthcare
