Why I think this is dystopian: the rich are spending their money to fly their pets on private jets instead of, I don't know, giving a shit about anyone but themselves. And the government lets them. So, while we gasp at grocery prices, Ivanka Trump's dog will be flying first class.

The entire rest of the world: air travel is a serious ecological issue, and maybe we should reexamine how we use it, especially private flights.

This company: lolol private planes for dogs!

It would hilarious if it weren't so tragic.

Flights in May between New York and Los Angeles will cost $6,000 per dog and human pair, and $8,000 for flights between New York and London for each pooch and parent couple.

Yeah but imagine how much better air travel would be if you could just play with dogs the whole time.

Would be outweighed by dogs pissing and shitting themselves out of fear of flight.

Just takes one owner with an aggressive dog and we have canine terror at 1000 feet.

Actually sounds like a fun ride.

I just want universal healthcare. Please....

My sentiment exactly.

this is (wants to be) commercial service operated by private business and has no relation to your government and how it handles healthcare.

Why I think this is dystopian: the rich are spending their money to fly their pets on private jets instead of, I don’t know

the rich are already spending their money on flying their pets private; this article is about scheduled service, which is exact opposite of private flying.

putting your dog into cargo space of an airplane is a lottery that may not end well: there have been stories where the dog was left on tarmac in extreme temperatures and died from overheating, even when its owner paid some premium package that promised to handle the dog with extra care, for example.

so while we should definitely think twice if we need to use the airplane for a week long vacation we will spend drinking margaritas by the hotel pool, if i were offered a job across the ocean, being able to get my dog with me and being sure she survives the trip would be a deal-breaker for me.

what is notable here is it seems to me that at this point it is project that exists in a dream of some marketing expert who knows more about hipster bulls..t than dogs, so we will have to wait if the service actually lifts off the ground to see how it looks in reality.

from the article:

Before boarding, dogs will be treated to calming pheromones, music and colors they like best.

right, dog's favorite color... 😂
