Woo-hoo today's my cake-day on Lemmy.world.. actually I'm the first here but many will follow the next days. Happy cake day to you all!

Happy cake day @[email protected] ! Appreciate you hosting all us Reddit Refugees when the Reddit Third-Party API Exodus happened one year ago! And big shout out to you and the other volunteer mods and admins, across multiple instances, that put in their free time to stabilize Lemmy World during the massive uptick in user registration, handling the codebase, the upgrade challenges, the creepy CSAM bad actors last year, and saw us through all the intermittent downtimes we had periodically. Lemmy World has been super stable and reliable since then.

Reminder to all reading this: if you can, chip in and help with server costs for this valuable service. Decentralization FTW

I can’t believe it’s been a year. Damn. I really didn’t think I’d make it. I half worried I’d go crawling back.

My last two comments, one year ago were, “Memmy for Lemmy. Been happy all day.” (though voyager is my app these days) and, “Thank you. I already love it. I hope this is where all of the old heads go.”

That was a response to my introduction to lemmy.world.

I meant it when I said I was leaving. I wasn’t 100% sure I could make it after using Reddit for so long, but here I am.

Edit: I'm going to slightly bend (but not break) the unofficial Admin Prime Directive a bit and point out that at least two people with Lemmy World accounts downvoted this post. Like, what are you even doing here then?
