Anyone have input here?

I'm trying to decide which I like, yammie noob had a cool vid comparing the two with the xsr seemingly on top, but spec-wise, the z900 should be wild. I'm aware there are tune and exhaust kits to wake the undertuned z900 up.

I like spirited riding, but mostly on straights as I roar off to a campsite in the mountains. What do you folks think?

Both are pretty great, can't go wrong with either. Personally is go with the Z900RS cause I like the sound better and it has a bigger gas tank.

P.S. Yammie Noob is a real dickhead.

Ah, good point on the tank. I like the style of the z900, matches my current UJM a bit better.

What happened with yammie? I don't really follow any channels besides fortnine.

  1. He's fired someone and made a video about it. Yammie deleted the original video because everyone trashed it so much.

  2. He crashed into some guys Porsche while riding on the wing side of the road while his licence was suspended.

  3. Dude is just a talentless hack. I remember watching a video he did about how to get a bike into the back of a pickup then later noticed he did the same exact video like a year ago. Then noticed he does that a bit, he's just not very creative and is out of ideas.

Jeez. That guy "spite" & the lady are who actually did the z900rs vs xsr900 review, yammie just cameos uselessly a few times.

I never really liked their channel anyway, so thanks for the heads up.

I know about #1 and #3 (Spite has his own channel now) but never #2. Proof of that one? He seems to ride a lot more responsibly than lots of motorcycle channels (Gixxer Brah, etc.)

Source. Maybe he wished up after multiple crashes.

Both are nice bikes. You won't be disappointed with either one, so maybe take into account which dealer is closer, or which bike you like the aesthetic of better (appearance, engine note etc).

I don't like either much but if I had to choose I'd go with the Yamaha. Bear in mind I don't like egos on most sport bikes I'm more a dirt/naked/adv guy.

I'm currently on a naked UJM from the 80s, which I love but there's been a lot of improvement in bikes over the 40+ yrs since she was built.

I'm leaning towards the z900rs, but people are really bigging up the cp3 it seems.

I owned a 2019 z900rs. My buddy owns an xsr900. The xsr feels like a modern street bike. The z900rs feels like a classic Kawasaki Z, with a shitload more power and traction control.

Both feel sleepy once the retro novelty wears off. I traded the Z for a street triple.

Thanks for the comment, kinda looking for a more powerful ujm. Street triple looks cool too.

If that's the one you dig go for it. I just think Yamahas are a little more reliable. Nothing wrong with the Kawi.

So I have a tracer 9 GT with the same CP3 engine and I gotta say its a real gem of an engine. The z900 may have an extra cylinder and its also fun to ride but i like the balance thst the 3 cyl brings its just more versatile? Both are great bikes but to me yamaha just feels a touch more refined

[-] [email protected] 2 points 4 weeks ago

What have you observed that makes you feel the refinement?

I'm leaning towards the bigger tank of the z900, but I'd be carrying a spare gallon on my camping trips regardless.

Its more of just how the bike feels when im on it. It feels solid and substantial has weight but still feels nimble. The places where you’re in contact with the bike feel thought out. The Z900 to me feels more raw and kinda plastic-y not necessarily like a toy but more like a well modified car that prioritizes performance over small details and comforts. Really it comes down to what you like the feeling of more to me its pretty much the top gear meme “that is brilliant, but I like this” If you can catch a demo day for each one I highly highly recommend it.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 4 weeks ago

Demo days, good thinking. Thanks for the opinion, I'll keep em in mind while I try to test.
