This event makes me feel all the more committed to democratic centralism being critical.

It's a very complex political situation in Bolivia right now and I know I'm being overly reductive about this but I think that the rift that has emerged within MAS between the Arce and Morales camps has made MAS vulnerable to this sort of shit.

I'm not saying that they wouldn't have tried to stage a coup (this is Bolivia, after all, and as much as I love Bolivians there's no denying the fact that Bolivia is the land of the golpista) but disunity and political instability is like blood in the water for an aspiring coup leader.
