Whenever you see anyone urging a certain course of action online, ask yourself who stands to benefit the most. Trans people not voting = transphobes. Climate change denial = fossil fuel companies. It's always the same playbook.

What the hell? I've not heard that yet. What asinine reason are they peddling?

Everyone should vote, all the time. It's your right and duty. Everyone deserves a say.

You havent heard it for a reason, this guy is completely lying because a trans person told them theyre voting for someone else.

If it's happening, I imagine it's something along the lines of "Biden did bad things to trans people. If you vote for him, you don't support trans rights. And Trump is even worse! Don't vote/vote third party. " There are other issues where I've seen this argument, not specifically for trans folks, though.

If you're planning on voting for a rapist, someone with 34 felonies that paid a pornstar hush money from campaign funds for sex while his wife was at home pregnant, you should probably stay home clutching your pearls instead of voting.

Trans people should definitely vote in the election.

Those who want for the government to take freedoms from people would be doing the country a great service by staying home.

It isn't enough for these people to cast the underprivileged into the fires, they won't be satisfied until they've convinced the underprivileged to throw themselves in as an act of holier than thou defiance

There are people saying this? Ugh. What's the logic even? No need to take any mask off.

Some hexbear user according to another post. But those guys are just far right trolls so nothing to take seriously

This guy is completely lying, no one told him to abstain from the general election, he was arguing with someone because they are voting third party.

How many people are actually advocating for non voting?

All I see on Lemmy is people begging for a candidate with a better shot at beating trump, and then they get screeched at that only Biden can stop trump because....

Well, they never give a reason why it has to be Biden.

How many people are actually advocating for non voting?

Uh, lots. There's been a tireless effort here in leftist spaces discouraging voting for "genocide Joe" without actually providing alternatives.

Well, they never give a reason why it has to be Biden.

It's because politics moves slowly and it's way too late for someone else to start campaigning, plus he's the incumbent. If you had someone in mind a year ago, it would be worth discussing. It'll never happen in the next 4 months.

If Biden stepped down and Joe Schmoe from Fucking, Indiana was elevated to presidential candidate for the Democratic party, they'd be known by 80% of the country in 24 hours. The "too late" narrative continued to be pushed multiple times until it was actually too late. I think this the 4th "too late" segment in his campaign.

They could easily switch to the current vice president and get some new relatively known person on board as her running mate.

This is exactly what would happen if Biden suddenly had a major health issue.

How many people are actually advocating for non voting?

So, so many. PugJesus' and my history can attest to that.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

I looked at your history since you recommended it.

I don't know why you wanted me to because it's not relevant to what we're talking about, but I did look at your post history like you asked.

This is going off the rails, with all sides telling each other not to vote. Locking as there's too much to mod here.
