What it really shows is that Russia was running far below capacity. 'Hot' they are acting like its a bad thing that real wages (which include inflation) is rising unlike the West. One has to wonder why U.S. isn't running 'hot' despite $800bn in military spending. Could it be that much of the spending leaks away into 'savings' (money hoarding MIC) or imports?

But I was assured they had a GDP smaller than Italy how could this happen surprised-pika

The only explanation is that the Italians must be hiding their money somewhere

They still have a GDP smaller than Italy, it's just that nominal GDP is based on dollar exchange rates and is completely useless at describing economies that aren't completely reliant on the US.

(that's the joke, GDP is primarily a human suffering metric)

State-driven spending offsets factors that would otherwise cause economic depression? What a novel concept!

Sounds like communism to me. Why doesn’t Putin learn economics 101 and cut a check to crypto investors

Do Russians have health care? I thought it was just vodka.

They used to have excellent healthcare in the Soviet era, now, not so much.

Neither does nearly all post-Soviet states (including Ukraine).

And Healthcare in western countries is crumbling too thanks to neoliberal austerity.
