Sacred prostitution - paid sex that is highly respected and beneficial to all parties? It be like dang yo, yeah, I've been feeling pretty shit have had no game in so many years, I'll go pay my dues to the preistesses and probably feel quite a bit better for contributing to the religion too

Eh. There was a literal theocratic heirarchy involved. I wouldn't assume everyone was a willing participant.

Or maybe they were appreciating the positive aspects of a concept without restricting the idea to one flawed implementation.

It's like saying communism is nice because sick people don't have to work as much as healthy people for a good standard is living. Responding "well Stalin killed 60 million people" isn't really meaningfully engaging with OP.
