Dowel running the length of it right down through the handle. Used string to compress the foam. Fed it into the tube and unwound so the foam expanded to wedge it in there so the tube can be replaced.

Next time I babysit I'm going to dominate the swordfighting... Once he admits defeat he can keep the sword

Definitely would have enjoyed this over a big stick from the woods back in the day ahaha

I remember finding the biggest meanest looking stick and then it snaps in half the first time I hit my sisters medium sized reasonable stick.

I don't know... Ya can't beat the classics!

That's really nice, I'm right into HEMA. If you really want to dominate your nephew google "fiore dei liberi flower of battle pdf" open the first page on HROARR.

It's a translated manuscript from the 14th century that's been translated and will teach you how to fight correctly.

I woke recommend the peasants strike on your nephew.

To be fair I already dominate him. I don't think another advantage over him will help his confidence!

Got to make him think he has a chance... Before utterly crushing him

Before utterly crushing him

Obligatory:

"To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women." - Conan the Barbarian

Or perhaps:

"Crush your enemies! Grind their bones into dirt! Make them regret they were ever born!" - Abraham H. Parnassus

depending on whether you have a pesky H. R. Pickens in your life, or not.

This is completely "eccentric uncle" energy, and I love it.

Well you definitely 1-upped my past efforts which entailed pvc pipe, pipe insulation and duct tape. That's beautiful, good job.

What wholesome motivation for a project!

As somebody who has literally been injured with a cardboard tube to the eye (being used as a sword though sans crossguard/handle): just make sure the kids are using swinging motions rather than poking (or are very aware to stay below neck level)

Oh for sure. He is well versed in safe cardboard tube swordfighting techniques

Reminds me of our nerf rules:

  1. Always aim for the face
  2. Don’t get shot in the face
