The person with the furry profile pic telling people to be a normal human...

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

Tbf it's rare to see normal people posting on social media in 2024, at least everyone I see is fucked up in some way. And when they claim they're normal, they're either lying, or in denial. I feel like I've permanently losing sanity by just living in this fucked up world year by year. The furries are at least self-aware.

I think there's also something to be said for the 80/20 effect: 80% of the content you see is created by 20% of the user base. Not sure if this is actually true, citation definitionally needed, but I suspect a lot of Internet communities work this way, with a loud (and usually mentally unstable) chronically online minority

This might be a bold assumption on my part but I would say most normal people do not have the energy for the craziness that occurs on a lot of socials now.

You want to engage and be a part of the community but it's just far too exhausting in many cases. Easier to just browse most of the time.

If you're talking about microblogging, or other mediums where your post is meant to be seen by the general public, then you're right. Typically people are posting for the benefit of friends in family, and don't really care whether people who are strangers to them knowing what's going on in their life.

Furries are normal human beings tho

[–] [email protected] 62 points 1 month ago (1 children)

My feelings toward furries are entirely neutral and I don't support the claim that normality is a positive automatically.

That said, I disagree with your claim.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 month ago (2 children)

How are your feelings towards them neutral if you don't recognize them as normal human beings? Are they lesser human beings because they like to put on silly costumes?

Ok, maybe I understood something wrong here but specifically saying someone is not a normal human instead of just them having a weird hobby sounded to me like they were trying to say that. But I also hate how much furries are getting hated on for no reason, so I get kinda mad when I see stuff like that.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago

In this very comment you said "having a weird hobby." There's nothing wrong with having a weird hobby, but it's not normal.

None of my favorite people are "normal." So long as their hobbies don't cause harm to anyone, that's fine.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

It's a distinctly not normal hobby, and sometimes a sexual fetish. That's ok.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

A substantial majority of people do not fetishize (not necessarily sexualize) anthropomorphic animals, dress in ears and tails, or wear full on fursuits. Furries are not normal by definition. Being abnormal is not intrinsically bad.

It's generally good! Diversity of thought and behavior, like genetics, leads to healthy and robust systems.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

Sorry, I got kinda mad because I hate when a group of people gets bullied just because others see them as weird and I thought this was an instance of this happening. You're right tho.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

Furries definitely aren't normal.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You keep telling yourself that, bud

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You do know I'm not a furry tho, right?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's fine if you are and fine if you aren't, but this message kinda seems to contrast with your other posts in this thread.

No they aren't lol

[–] [email protected] 69 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Just be a normal human being and act like you didn't see my animal sex toys

[–] [email protected] 44 points 1 month ago (2 children)

It isn't outrageous that you have them, the problem is you keep them in an illuminated bookcase in your living room and keep wanting to feature them as part of the tour.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Personally I keep them dangling from the ceiling along with my sausages.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

i cant do that anymore after the incident

😮‍💨

You put cured meat in your bits, didn't you?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

no i ate a dildo....😐

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

If erectile dysfunction is an illness, would having sex with someone using viagra be putting cured meat in your bits?
