I know we have quite a few ukkk comrades here… so years ago, I learned about canal boats. The whole things seems really cool and cozy to me. However, I also get the impression that it’s generally considered very boring. Have you gone on a canal boat trip before? Did you enjoy it?

Spent a day on a friend's canal boat, not done a full trip: short answer is you better like the people you're with. They're not as cramped as they seem from the outside, but they're certainly not roomy, and power is limited to what you can generate, so you're not gonna be using lots of gadgets or watching TV.

On the other hand, if you're with people you get on well with, lounging around on top of a canal boat with some beers and/or joints, chatting shit while it floats along, can be wonderfully relaxing.

What is this in Yankee terms? Going down the Mississippi on a steamship?

A canal boat trip, you say?

Not me but I know people who have — apparently, the thing is you have to spend all day driving the thing, opening and closing the locks etc. The canals are really beautiful though, and it is legit very cool that you can cross the country on them.

Check out cruising the cut on YouTube. Dude was a bbc presenter who quit his job and bought a narrow boat. He did about 200 episodes just filming the countryside and adding commentary before he got sick of it. I'm not a boat person, but I think I might fly my bike over and ride the tow path from London to Scotland
