4 splits? And redditors will tell you the de devs aren’t leftists

Imagine if all 4 of them make games of roughly equivalent quality to Disco Elysium success

[–] [email protected] 60 points 2 months ago (2 children)

They spend 90 percent of the time dunking on each other with increasingly arcane allusions to history

[–] [email protected] 44 points 2 months ago

yes, "the writing process"

[–] [email protected] 29 points 2 months ago

Each game has a plot but it's just to keep the Fortress Accident Sidequest moving along

I'll allow it

The only one I care about is the one with the core writers.

Will be interesting to see what the others end up making in terms of gameplay but the core writers are the reason that DE is on par with actual literature where every other game in existence is a toy by comparison.

Ahhhh no but this is so real bocchi-cry Why can't other games have real writing...

Pathologic (and Pathologic 2) also have real writing! They're easily on par with Disco Elysium in terms of writing quality! (I don't disagree with the general point, I'm just out here shilling for Pathologic 2. Because it's great and Pathologic 3 is coming out next year with any luck and I'm so excited!)

Kurvitz and Rostov have their own company, Red Info ltd. that is funded by Netease and is apparently working on something, but we probably won't get more news until the legal trouble with Disco Elysium itself is resolved

Summer Eternal are my pick

Splitters! We're the People's Front of ZA//UM!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

I'm just going to call you ZA/UM-Ndonga.

PFZA/UM (ML) (MZT)

At this point i'd be happy with just a Revachol TTRPG campaign sourcebook as long as it has the same writing quality as the game. Doesn't even have to have stat blocks or anything, i'll just run it with Thirsty Sword Lesbians.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I actually thought the same thing. Would absolutely love a source book detailing a TTRPG. Feels like something Summer Eternal should consider for funding.

I just learned that Robert Kurvitz apparently signed a 7 year non compete clause as a writer. I didn't even know that was legal with a duration like this. But both Summer Eternal and xXx Nightshift sound very promising, even though i expect both of them to not take place in the world of Elysium.

In true leftist fashion, there are multiple fractures within the DE2 movement.

Cant wait for the games to start writing takedowns of the other games and the reponses to those takedowns and the responses to those responses etc

[–] [email protected] 32 points 2 months ago

Za/um has made a silly game, we shall neither play it nor respond

Feels on brand

[–] [email protected] 22 points 2 months ago

I bet 1 of them is going to come out super liberal and anti-communist and the devs will be like "actually it's anti-authoritarian"

There are now as many ZA/UM successors as there are Workers' Internationals, appropriately enough.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

XXX Nightshift is the name of the game being made by Dark Math Games

At time of this article's publishing the companies were: ZA/UM itself, Red Info (Kurvitz and Rostov's company), Long Due and Dark Math Games.

Now there's another co-op Summer Eternal, bringing the total to 5
