I like cotton swab and ear pick type ASMR. Lately I've been listening to some animated ASMR channels (my favorite) like sato ASMR and hayang ASMR. I almost exclusively listen to it at night or when I'm trying to sleep.

Feel free to drop your favorite channels, TikToks, or twitch stream ASMRs btw, we would all love to be exposed to more artists!

And if you don't watch ASMR, comment why you don't. Maybe the rest of us could change your mind!

I can't stand ASMR. It always feels like my personal space is being violated when I hear it. Too close to my ears, please back off! ohnoes

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 weeks ago

Same lol I just do not get the appeal

I do not watch ASMR. I do not like it. It makes my skin crawl and makes me uncomfortable. I cant explain why, I just do not like it.

I have my own personal ASMR called tinnitus that runs 24/7

I get that kind of experience from sufficiently emotional music, but whispering and crinkling sounds do absolutely nothing for me.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Emotional music makes me experience frisson, which ime is a totally different (albeit superficially similar) sensation to ASMR

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 weeks ago

Well, if that's frisson, I like frisson. I don't "get" ASMR and I've tried.

What about scalp massages and scalp treatments?

Hair brushing or nail tapping might be cool too

That Dang Dad

Technically not asmr but his voice is very soothing and he makes good political content

I don't like ASMR and I should be allowed to kill anyone who pops their gum.

It's irritating, especially considering how much of it is gross mouth noises. The closest to ASMR I'll go is a Chinese Youtuber than makes desserts. But that one is for the beauriful foods.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

You can look up "no talking ASMR" to avoid that! There's even some unintentional ASMR channels that pull scenes from movies and shows that fit the ASMR bill.

Also please share channel of the Chinese YouTuber that makes deserts!

Unintentional stuff like Bob Ross, doctor's exams, crystal healing woo bullshit, or people making shoes in complete silence.

Mouth sounds make me want to put a fist through my monitor.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 weeks ago

I hate mouth sounds so much. They're icky

Malcolm X is my ASMR.

When I first learned ASMR several years ago I was really confused that people had to listen to leaves crunching and shit to feel the sensation, because I’ve been able to do it manually since before I could remember. I know not everyone can do that. It’s a fun trick showing someone I can give myself goosebumps at will.

I don't do it too often but I love Heather Feather to pieces and miss her dearly. I usually don't listen to it for the tingling aspects of it but honestly someone just talking to me about something is deeply soothing

ASMR doesn't do anything for me, but this is my favorite ASMR video anyway.

scissor haircuts and spray bottles are big triggers. baba sen / cosmic barber thing was a good one, RIP.

also dig unintentional stuff, like the classic TM Lewin navy suit fitting and woo shit like mesmerism or really absurd chiropractic/energy healing. the kookier the better.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

I'm convinced that the tingles are what gets people hooked on energy healing.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 weeks ago

i don't like treble, is there asmr that's only bass and mid?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 weeks ago

I haven't had much experience with ASMR. In fact - I think the last time I listened was ~5 years ago. I'm just not an ambient kind of guy. But this thread made me curious - maybe I'll listen to some vids for a minute or two and see if I change my mind.

Latte ASMR is my fav

Pommy has a soothing voice and is calm. It may sound wild, but I like the toothbrushing one. Purring too. Too bad she hasn't made many videos.
The sound of pop rocks is... interesting
"Visual" asmr is nice if you are into that, see e.g. deucel: cute cat paw headpats and face massage or ADHD cat girl touches your face and then gets eepy.
Want another weird thingy? FAKE knife sharpening

I do listen to... normal asmr, like Fauna

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago

Oh that's amazing! I love head pats ASMR!

The weirdest ASMR I liked was just deleted, the owner of the channel wanted to move on from ASMR.

But it was cool, it was about a virus that infects ASMR mics and tries to take over the world. It was nice while it was around.

I just don't like it. shrug-outta-hecks
