Seeing Queer people vote for Trump reminds me as a Jewish person that many Jews voted and supported Hitler.

Makes me think of Fritz Haber. His story is too complicated to sum up in a quick blurb. But essentially he was a German-Jewish chemist and nationalist that developed poisonous gases eventually used in gas chambers during the Holocaust. Even though he was basically a national hero he had to flee for his life once the Nazis came to power. There was an episode of Behind the Bastards about him for anyone interested.

Nobody in their right mind could conclude that trump is a Christian, so I must assume these people are not of sound mind.

To be fair most professed christians behave less inline with Jesus' teachings then I do, and I was about 10 before I learned more than the guy's name.

Or just made up.

Trump falls well in line with the Christian tradition of leaders, so much so that he's king material ("anointed" or a messiah).

It's true! He can't defund them, Congress holds the pursestrings. Too bad they also voted Red up and down the ticket, meaning that Congress sure can take away funding, and he can happily approve it.

But he can make it an utter fucking mess for those funds to be distributed.

He makes the best messes. Everybody's saying it. Some people, not him, but the best people says he makes the biggliest messes. Yuge!

Not to worry. She protected her “beliefs and faith”, so she’s still got “thoughts and prayers” to fall back on, right?

What I find most terrifying about this, is that this isn't the first Trump term. There's no guessing what his politics are like. This woman must've been presented a completely wild reality by social media algorithms for them to think Kamala was the worse choice.

If you can't trust the Fat Thigh Business, what can we trust?

Meta-comment: I've seen a lot of people referring to the Department of Education as "DOE", which I thought was unambiguously the Department of Energy. Apparently, the Department of Education refers to itself as "ED" on its website, https://ed.gov/.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

But ED is erectile dysfunction.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 day ago

Educational Dysfunction then.

I am really curious what "beliefs and faith" people think Trump is going to champion. I keep hearing similar statements but nobody (except racists) ever goes into what those beliefs are or why they think Trump will uphold them.

There was someone on Lemmy saying he's going to "Make America Healthy Again." Apparently, the man who chooses McDonalds as his presidential meals is going to reduce food additives and make it cost less for the consumer while doing so.

Making abortion illegal and declaring Christianity the state religion. That’s pretty much it.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

To be fair, Trump has claimed for probably roundabout everything that he's going to champion it. If you're not skeptical and you just hear what you want to hear, then you would probably believe that he's going to champion your thing.

I think it was John Oliver I saw recently that said this:

"Trump lies so frequently, and about everything, that anyone can think whatever they want about his true intentions and they could be right."

Which explains so, so fucking much.

You're correct this is from the latest last week tonight.

Becoming politically aware has been one of the most frustrating things to ever happen to me.
