I saw the thumbnail and was confident itwas was a female version of Elon. I clicked anyway. I have no regrets.

Sissy Space-X

Wish I could take credit for coming up with it, but my buddy was real quick on that one.

Lose one (1) election:

"Actually, misgendering is an excellent idea. Also we're removing the pronouns from our bios."

[–] [email protected] -4 points 58 minutes ago (1 children)

This is just fucking misogyny. If the best insult you can think of against Elon Musk is to call him a woman, then you just hate women. Anyone who thinks this is actually good, you are part of the problem, just go vote for fucking Trump

[–] [email protected] 8 points 29 minutes ago

the joke is that Elon musk is hanging around trump so much that he's basically his spouse

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 hours ago

I legit thought that was a picture of Olivia Colman as I scrolled past.

Is this a microblog post?

[–] [email protected] 45 points 13 hours ago

Stephen king reports he never said this, but only because he didnt think of it.

This will actually work. Theyre both megalomaniacs with fragile egos, putting him in Trumps shadow making it look like he's being used by Trump will drive him crazy

it's the other way around. mangolini cannot share the spotlight and is already annoyed that elon is always up his ass trying to be co-president. elon however is a massive cuck bitch so he'll probably be regularly humiliated by him and not do anything about it.

I remembered this and googled it. In my mind there was a video, but man. It’s been a crazy 8 years.

"When Elon Musk came to the White House asking me for help on all of his many subsidized projects, whether it's electric cars that don't drive long enough, driverless cars that crash, or rocket ships to nowhere, without which subsidies he'd be worthless," the ever-gracious Trump wrote in 2022, "and telling me how he was a big Trump fan and Republican, I could have said, 'drop to your knees and beg,' and he would have done it…"

How long before they upgrade Elon to Felon?...

Or Felonia if you like 😂🤣

[–] [email protected] 1 points 43 minutes ago

That would require a functional system of government.

I'm gonna force myself to watch a crappy Stephen King movie because of this. I'll raise a glass to anyone that can get under the skin of this dumb chump.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 16 minutes ago

You can read one of his good books instead of watching a crappy movie.

The Langoliers is one option, a low budget TV-movie adaptation, and it has a few allegorical parallels to today’s events.

Example 1: danger as a function of regression. For starters, the movie captures the surreal feeling many have re: our corrupted timeline. The characters’ original timeline continues on without them and they fall further behind the present until the langoliers find them. With increasing alarm, we’ve watched our timeline fall further and further from the expected path of slow but steady progress, to the point that the darkest chapter of modern history has caught up to us.
Example 2: status quo as a form of paralysis. The restrained physics of temporal-decay around the airport gives much of the movie its aesthetic of liminal stasis. Arguably this is not unlike the husk of our former democratic government in slowing the march of progress to a crawl, focusing on conservation of status quo politics. Even now, the government timidly awaits its assimilation by the fascist demagogues, who promise to carve it up and feed it to an endless, insatiable hunger that is eating the planet. (Yeah global elites are the langoliers in this comparison.)
But the allegory fails, because our monsters are weak.Fascists and their supporters are cowards by definition. Fear and division made them, it is what drives them, and it’s how they drive others. Spreading it is required to maintain their power. So it should come as no surprise that they are most vulnerable to courage and unity. Indeed, wherever these remain, they can only cede ground and lose power.

Why not watch one of the good ones, instead? I'd recommend:

  • Carrie
  • Shawshank Redemption
  • Delores Clayborne
  • The Green Mile
  • Stand By Me

I'd like to add Dreamcatcher. Nothing spectacular, but what a great cast! I'd say it's like an airport novel; quick and easy to consume, and rather entertaining.

I Duddets!

Or if you're in for a trashy good time, The Running Man starring Arnold Schwarzenegger!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I first watched The Running Man shortly after finishing the book (which I quite enjoyed), expecting to see a movie adaptation of it, when in fact the most basic details of the premise are the only similarity between the two; as a result, I was pretty disappointed, but from what I remember of it, 'trashy good time' is a pretty apt description.

And Paula Abdul did the choreography for the dancing girls!

[–] Lenny 9 points 12 hours ago (6 children)

Gonna tack on The Mist to your list.

At the very least it stars Thomas Jane and Andre Bruagher, which is a win in its own right imo.
