I'm looking for a Christmas present - something that goes over the British occupation, colonialism, the potato famine etc etc, and ideally something from a Marxist / historical materialist perspective.

Thanks comrades Care-Comrade

the British occupation

very broad category lol, I'm not sure if there is a text that's gonna distil that much history (still ongoing anti-thatcher-action ). the plantations/Ulster plantation especially could be a good place to start. i have a pal who's an Irish historian, I'll try to remember to ask him for a recommendation tomorrow!
